Can You Fail With 75 Questions?

I JUST TOOK MY BOARDS AND IT SHUT OFF AT 75 QUESTIONS. I AM NOT SURE HOW I DID. THE QUESTIONS/ANSWERS WERE EXTREMELY VAGUE IN CONTEXT AND CLARITY. I HAVE TO ADMIT I HAD NO IDEA AS TO SOME OF THE QUESTIONS APPROPRIATE ANSWERS. aLOT OF PRORITY. NOT MUCH DISEASE PROCESS. TO FAIL WITH 75 QUESTIONS DON'T YOU HAVE TO PRETTY MUCH FAIL MISERABLY? HAS ANYONE HEARD OF ANYONE WHO FAILED AT 75 aLTHOUGH I THOUGHT THE EXAM WAS DIFFICULT, I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE I COULD FAIL THAT BAD (I HAVE DONE ABOUT 10,000 PRACTICE QUESTIONS WITH GOOD RESUTS.) FOR NOW I KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED.

i took my exam today, i answered over 260 questions... maybe 265! i really don't know what to expect! there are some questions where i'm so sure of the answer, but there are some where i have no clue or i guessed... specially the meds!

hang in there...

I took Nclex Friday and was terrified I'd failed. However I was one of the first four in our class to take the test. We all got 75 questions with tons of priority and select all that apply. We all felt we had failed. We all passed!! I spent the 48 hours I had to wait searching the internet for people that had failed at 75. What I found was that the people that got the higher level questions(priority, delegation) with very few content questions all pass. I had no math on mine whatsoever and the majority was prioritazion and delegation with a few infection control and some meds I never heard of. I think you can feel good about your exam, sounds like you got up to the higher level questions which you never would have done if you were failing.

I'm sure someone will come along to say yes, they failed with the minumum number but my opinion is that it would be highly, highly unusual. FWIW all the people in my PN class that got the minimum questions passed. Sounds to me like you did great!

My computer shut off at 75 questions too. Unfortunately when it shut off all I kept hearing in my head was " When it shuts off at 75 you either did really good or really bad". It is not that unusual to not pass at 75. I did not pass but just keep thinking positively..I am sure you passed. Goodluck!

Did ya'll realize the original post is almost 3 years old? :wink2:

Wonder if he passed :)

one can never tell..some passed at 75 and some failed but according to the thread I've read here, there's a bigger chance in passing @ 75. I too felt the same way a month ago wen I took my exam, it turned blue at 75. I thought I flunked my exam but after 14 days of waiting I received my letter from BON that I passed!! GoodLuck to you!

I took my boards today and the screen went blank at 75 questions. I have heard that if it shuts off at 75 and you get several math questions during the exam, this is a fairly certain clue that one has failed. I had two math questions during the exam, so I don't think there is any chance that I passed. However, I also had numerous select all that apply and priority questions. The 75 rule and math questions included is the kiss of death from what I have read and been told. What really sucks is that if one fails at 75, they really bombed and wasn't even close to passing.:angryfire

I just found out today after 46 and a half hours of pure torture that i passed with 75 questions! YAY! I think the math thing is bogus because I had 5 math questions, beginning with the most difficult and ending with easy ones. I also had about 6-7 SATA, quite a few triage, a couple "who would you call first," and more than my share of difficult infection control. I was certain that I had failed because I was only sure I had gotten about 6 or 7 questions right out of the whole 75! I can sympathize with anyone going through their 48 hours of hell. There is absolutely nothing like it!
