  1. i took the hesi in school as required and did very well on it. the nclex exam is nothing like the hesi exam. the hesi exam is specified and isolated content that has a different format than the nclex. i though the hesi exam was much easire than the nclex. anyway, i did take the nclex in july and passed on 75 questions. i atribute my passing the test to the kaplan question trainer which is exacly like the nclex. it is the exact same fromat as the nclex and realy ealuates where your critical thinking skills are. good luck and i am sure you will do fine.
  2. thank god, i just called my state board of nursing to find out that i did indeed pass the nclex at 75 questions. my wife, who also took the test at the same place and time, was able to pass at 116 questions. we are both very fortunate. i just want to say thankyou to all out there for the support and guidance through this stressful period. for those who did not pass or had trouble- remember to stay positive and you will pass, if you got through nursing school-then you will be sure to pass the nclex. good luck to all and god bless thanks, pattyboy:)
  3. don't let one bad test get you down. there are many good nurses who don't pass on the first, second, or third times. i just took the exam on friday. it shut off at 75 questions. i thought it was extremely vague in manner and all choices to questions were potential good ones. if you ask me, i don't think it is even a good assessment or predictor of what kind of nurse one will be. you sound like you know what you need to do for the next time. i thought the kaplan trainer cd was exactly like actual nclex exam. maybe do the series of all 7 test(kaplan trainer) 3-4 times just so you can get used to that sort of questioning. One test per day is more than enough. And most of all, don't let this get you down-you are a smart person who just underestimated the nclex. you will pass with flying colors next time. good luck and congratulations, because you will be a RN in 45 days!:)
  4. steph-i am on the same boat as you are. i know that i have worked hard enough to have not failed at 75 questions but it still scares me that i never heard of most of the things included in the exam. it seemed as though the exam was more of a comprehension reading exam more than a method to evaluate safe nursing practice. i'll be crossin my finger and prayin for both of us. also, i have not heard yet of anyone failing the boards this year after 75 questions. lets keep our heads up.
  5. I need to find an answer to this questions as I may be the first person to fail at 75 questions. feel free to comment
  6. I JUST TOOK MY BOARDS AND IT SHUT OFF AT 75 QUESTIONS. I AM NOT SURE HOW I DID. THE QUESTIONS/ANSWERS WERE EXTREMELY VAGUE IN CONTEXT AND CLARITY. I HAVE TO ADMIT I HAD NO IDEA AS TO SOME OF THE QUESTIONS APPROPRIATE ANSWERS. aLOT OF PRORITY. NOT MUCH DISEASE PROCESS. TO FAIL WITH 75 QUESTIONS DON'T YOU HAVE TO PRETTY MUCH FAIL MISERABLY? HAS ANYONE HEARD OF ANYONE WHO FAILED AT 75 aLTHOUGH I THOUGHT THE EXAM WAS DIFFICULT, I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE I COULD FAIL THAT BAD (I HAVE DONE ABOUT 10,000 PRACTICE QUESTIONS WITH GOOD RESUTS.) FOR NOW I KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED.
  7. hi all, I am sitting here thinking about the nclex exam i am scheduled to take at 9 am tommorow morning. I have a positve and confident vibe andI feel like I am prepared. I have been doing abou 100 questions a day consitently since february. also, i went through the kaplan trainer 4 times and got 70% to 90%I started my GN orietation in the ED two weeks ago, and i feel like I can prioritize and using the nursing process apporpriately for the situations i have experienced. (I have heard there are a good deal of delegation and prority questions.) ANy one got any last minute suggestions. I really just want to get this test over with. Also, by stroke of luck, my wife will also betaking the exam with me. I do feel as though I am a slightly more prepared than she is. But who knows? well, hope that computer shuts off at 75 and wish me luck! Pattyboy
