there was a case at a hospital about 4 days ago when a 28 yr old male suffered a massive stroke. there was bleeding in the brain. he was put into a medically induced coma. the next day,he went into full asystolic arrest and after 20 minutes of CPR with no results,the doctor called off the code and patient was pronounced dead. could the stroke itself caused the heart to stop beating?

Accurate.....:smokin::)

I know, thats why its gross!!

I just lost my mother about 2 weeks ago, it was September 1st, I was sitting in front of the TV and I received a call from my brother that my mother had just had a stroke, I told him I was on my way which is in the state of Virginia a 2.5 hour drive.

As I was approaching a bridge in route to my hometown, I receive another call from my brother that the volunteer/EMS could not revive her so she died. I do not know if she pass away in route to the hospital or after she arrived.

My brother said he was standing in the kitchen while my mother was sitting at the table when all of a sudden as he turn around, her head had drop down and her eyes were rolling back in her head. He tried to put a spoon in her mouth when she suddenly woke up and asked what happened all at the same time pushing his hand away from her mouth and then she suddenly went back out again.

This is the story as was told by my brother, his lady friend said that when the volunteer services arrive that my mother slip out of their hands and fell to the floor hitting her head, how hard I do not know. They said her hands felt cold to the touch while the volunteer services were working with her while waiting for the EMS.

They were told by those that worked on her that she suffered a stroke followed by a heart a attack.

My question is: does this sound accurate? or could their have another reason for her not being able to be revived?

Very Concerned,

To the OP, remember there are two types of stroke: Ischemic stroke (where a clot occludes blood flow to a part of the brain) and Hemmoragic (sp) Stroke which is bleeding into the brain.

The OP started this thread more than four years ago, I suspect this is no longer a subject of confusion.

Someone joined just today and revived the thread with a new question, basically asking for medical opinions.

Which violates the site ToS. I understand the devastating loss of a family member and only receive spotty second hand information as to what transpired while you were en route but the medical team is the better source not an anonymous message board
