Are you able to pay the bills, afford insurance, and contribute to a retirement fund on your nursing salary alone?

I voted other because it's my husband's salary that pays our bills and I don't have insurance where I work because his covers me, covers more than I can get, and it's cheaper.
If I had to support myself, I would probably have to cut back on some things, but I'm sure I could do it with picking up some more shifts.

I could with spare if it weren't for all the child support.
Yeah, yeah, I know it's one of my bills. That's not what I mean. I mean if I were supporting just 1 household, it wouldn't be a problem.
And it still isn't a problem - as long as I work overtime.

I'm seriously worried about retirement; there's never enough left to put away for that, and pensions are a thing of the past and hardly adequate.Savings is barely do-able
the cost of insurance , and the poor coverage offerred these days is atrocious.

Yes, I get paid more than enough. But, I'm single, have no children and share a house with my sister. Basically, I only have myself to worry about. That and spoiling the hell out of my nephews.
I worry about the future though. It's the whole reason I decided to go back to school and work full time.

I have never tried. I have lived with someone for the last 17 years that makes about 7-8 times what I do.
Yes, I know. I am quite lucky.
When I was in school it was the same way for me. I lived in a singles apartment complex. On Sundays we would pool our food and try to cook a meal. Sometimes it was really good, other times it was onion rings.
I *just* started eating onion rings again recently. I totally relate to what you are saying.

I could...if only I could find a FULL-time permanent job...somewhere.

I voted yes. I found that the more I worked, the more I spent and I rarely needed the extras.

Not with my husband's logging truck and our business - we need the truck to pay the bills.
I work part-time - mostly for the insurance. I won't ever work full-time again.
So, probably not.
