Can I use LPN in a newspaper ad for childcare openings?

MY cousin sure did. And she made more money at full time inhome day care than she ever did as an LPN. Has now for 25 years.

I don't know if I'd put it in an ad. I think I'd say first aid, CPR ceritified, etc. When you interview those who respond to your ad, then if you wanted to you can elaborate on your individual qualifications and experience. The fact that you're an LPN is a great plus, but you're going to provide childcare not nursing care to these kids. Do you take special needs kids or have peds experience? By advertising yourself as a healthcare professional, it may imply that you are going to do more than regular daycare and I don't know in this sue happy world if you want to do that. There is such a shortage of day care providers that I bet you will get plenty of responses, then you can feel them out and see how much you want to tell them about your professional back ground. You are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you since it has to be a mutually trusting relationship for you and the parents.I wish you the best of luck. I am not patient enough to take on daycare kids and their parents. I am very grateful for the mom who watched my girls when they were young. :)

good advice, imenid. My cousin did have peds experience and used it in her daycare business, caring for special needs kids. If you don't have such experience, it may be best to leave that credential off. And also remember, the liability issue in all of that. It's worked out well for my cousin, but people ARE sue-happy as you know.

Well, I would certainly be more inclined to use you if you were a nurse, but that is coming from another nurse!

I recently saw an ad for pet-sitting in which the person identified herself as an RN. I wasn't quite sure how she thought that was going to help her! :chuckle

If you have your license, I would have it at the ready for any questions on proof. You are licensed through your state, therefore that is totally okay that I know of!

Heck, I would! (but you may want to pay the extra to say Licenced Practical Nurse since folks may not know LPN).

LOL! Good one. Sadly I was training as a vet before going to RN school...so I guess I can say I am trained in CFCPR Canine, feline cardio pulmonary resusitaion..LOL! (I actually had to do this on a a lizard once..LOL! Their noses/mouths aren't as wet as doggies/kitties for sure..LOL!!!!! But you have to watch out or you blow them up with too much air..ewww...LOL!).

NO but seriously, many of the same treatments done to humans are done for animals...just their anatomy is a bit different, and that you kinda have to know...).
