Can I still go to the gym regularly (Once I am nursing school)?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question. I just wanted to know if I will still have a little free time for some activities when I am in nursing school (I do taekwondo, go to the gym mostly everyday for about an hour, and volunteer work on the weekends)?

I am just kind of scared that once I am in nursing school, I am going to spend my whole day (after lectures and clinical labs) reviewing and studying what I have learned for the day and preparing myself for the following day and doing more reviewing and studying on weekends.

- My courses for my 2nd semester of nursing school are Foundations of Nursing II+Lab and Pharmacology in Nursing. Will my whole semester involve mostly studying and reviewing?

Ever since I found this forum, I have been reading many bad experiences nursing students face during labs (one of the experiences that I read on this forum was losing a patient while a nursing student). I am excited about becoming a nurse, but at the same time I have all these negative "what if..." thoughts circulating in my head. I just found this forum 2 days ago and I am beginning to worry that I won't be good enough to be a nurse.

I have lived in Orlando also (was born there too), was just there in Jan. LOL Yes I guess I rather have FoCo then maybe Boulder HAHA But it's still provokes an eye roll when I take my daughter to the park and see the Louis Vuitton Diaper bags and YES we are finally getting a Ikea.

Are you in Orlando now?

This is coming from a competitive bodybuilder and powerlifter: When I went to nursing school, it had to give a little. No more could I spend 2 hours in the gym, I would just get in, do my stuff and leave. I made sure to make effective use of my time when I was there instead of taking a little time here to BS or a little walk to the water fountain. I think it helped me to maximize time. I did have to not go some times due to work or studying for a test or when my son needed me, but I always tried to go. It's more mental. I don't do it for my body anymore, I do it for my mind. Good luck. You never have to stop training.

There is ALWAYS time to work out! Like others have said..it is a GREAT way to relieve stress!!!! Even if it is only 30 min a day...DO SOMETHING! Stress can also cause weight gain...so there ya go :)

I have to visit Colorado someday. Garden of the Gods looks good. I thought Utah was the most "fit state," CO was on the top ten I think (well, the last time I checked anyway).

Last I heard CO had the lowest obesity rate. At least that is what a group of students reported for their cultural presentation this past fall. WebMD lists it to but it looks like that is from 2008 so not sure if that changed in 2009 The CDC also listed the same in 2008 I can't find anything for 2009.

I exercised for an hour every day while in nursing school. I planned it into my day. I only worked per-diem on weekends, though. I never planned work and school on the same days. There is no time for exercise then.

I think it was a men's magazine who listed that UT is the fittest state and Houston,TX was the fattest. Then, I remember watching CNN saying, that it was Las Vegas, NV that was the fattest. I think it changes every year. CNN mentions 'fattest/fittest, states/cities' everytime. I can understand why TX would be the fattest (because of the delicious barbecues! and maybe frying stuff?) ... I try to avoid those, I can't help it sometimes.

Maybe they are considering Fit something different. All the latest sites I have seen (like 2005-2008) list like Alabama and Mississippi as the most obese. Sometimes it sucks living here, I felt more skinny when I lived in WA LOL

I would stick to the CDC for the stats. They seem to match up pretty well with what you see.

Alabama and Mississippi? LOL... aren't those two states on top of the "FRY everything" states? When I watch the food network/channel sometimes (or it might be the diners/dives show -- I'm not sure), I'm too busy staring at the food! Shows like that always emphasize on foods from all states and other countries. It's interesting to see what people eat! I always think, if I ate like them, I'd have a coronary on the spot! Yikes! --- Geez, there's times where I know that the food is just scrumptous just by looking at it. But, on the other hand, I can feel my arteries hardening just by watching it!

I'm thinking, I wish I can eat like them... without any consequences. There are just some food that are to die for! (da*n Ribs) Yum. Alas, I prefer to live though
