First you have to find out from your state Board if they allow this. If allowed in your state, then you have to get Excelsior to go along and sign your paperwork. Since Excelsior is an evaluative program that does not offer any clinical instruction, I highly doubt that you will find it possible. Call Excelsior and verify.
This would be completely dependent on what state you live in and how much of the RN program you completed. The best way to find out is to contact your board of nursing.
Thank you, i just spoke to the bord of education and they want me to be in a class of 9 months reconized only for LPN. I have 3 semester at Nassau Community College, but they do not let you take the Lpn test. I just have to finish the RN at Excelsior for few more months. I already took all the test but I need to wait for the CPNE, and it may take up to 6 months.
Thank you to all of you for the info.
Sincerely,
Paola :)
not true...you cannot challenge the rn boards in any state...in ca a cna with the required experience and a pharm class can challenge the lvn board...but that's a whole different discussion..
in california, an lvn can challenge rn boards if they have had 4-5 yrs exp as nurses aid on acute care and take pharm. but ultimately your answer is with the board in the state you live in. good luck!
Actually, from what I have read regarding Excelsior, you have to already be an LPN or paramedic in order to be accepted into their program. It seems that their frame of thought is that you need the background since it is independent study. So, I doubt if they would allow one to sit for NCLEX-PN.
Excelsior will also accept a student who has completed at least 50 percent of an RN program.Actually, from what I have read regarding Excelsior, you have to already be an LPN or paramedic in order to be accepted into their program.
