Hello Guys,
I would like to know if I can start taking the Pre-Q classes to get into the nursing program with a G.E.D?
can I become a nusre with only a G.E.D?
I plan to go to Los Angeles Valley College if that helps.
Thanks a ton,
Love this site,
Lawrence

If you can get into your community college (which btw you can with a g.e.d) then you can start taking prereqs. However, you will need to take all your placement exams, which may mean you will need to start with classes that aren't the actual listed prereqs. For instance, if one of them is Algebra, your math exam may show you need to take a different math class before you can take algebra. While most science classes don't "require" you to have taken english 101 (or something similar) to start them, I'd highly recommend doing it. Its often a prereq anyway. So basically, you may need to take prereqs to your prereqs, but you do not need a high school diploma to go to community college. Hope this answers your question.

My friend graduated with high honors from a community college without high school. As long as you are 18, you can start community college without a HS diploma. I don't know if my friend had a GED. Just a month or two past, she got her NP license, proof that one can get ahead if they work hard. You can do it too.

yah you can. I don't even have my g.e.d., i took the california high school proficiency exam so i could leave high school when i was 16. i know people who dropped out of high school. as long as you go to a community college, and most will accept you even though you haven't graduated (i think all will with a ged). you'll probably need to take placement tests as someone said before. my school requires everyone to take placement tests, even if they graduated high school.
