I am thinking about trying out some per diem position at either hospials or some of Nursing agencies.
My plan is to send them a e-mail first to see how much they are offering for per diem position.
I don't want to do the long process of application and hear something undesireable.
what do you think?
Is it alright to ask about the pay first?
Thank you for your responses :)

They may not want to respond, but no harm in trying. Sometimes facilities do not want to share information with the competition. Plus, there is more than pay to consider, so do not back yourself into a corner.

Most agencies advertise their rates. Most times it is the only way they get applicants. Agencies generally pay much more than staff rates.
*sorry for the horrible wording
Thank you guys for your responses.
I have give many advises here and there to encourage people to go for whatever they desire.
but I find it difficult to put my own first step forward.
Instead of wasting time being indecisive, I guess I will put that time into filling out one of those applications

I think it will depend on what part of the country you are in. Around me the PRN rates are not standardized.. they depend on experience. And in TN I find it very different than farther south.. here they will not even discuss PRN unless they have an actual job slot for it..I was used to PRN being the more...the better idea for employers.
But ask and see if they will quote, never hurts to try.
nlmoore, thank you for the encouragement :)

My feedback is that there is no such thing as "feedbacks".
It is both singular and pleural like deer.
Please let me point you in the right direction:

I approve of proper grammar as much as the next person but this is supposed to be a place we can vent, ask questions and let our hair down. Is it really necessary to point out every flaw?:)
I appreciate all you guys reading my post. I guess my poor grammar caught someone's eye today :)
Well, I learned something new today.
EmergencyNrse, thanks for your effort to correct my grammar.
