I'd love to know who here is starting this journey along with me.

I'm starting an 18 month (after pre-reqs) LPN program on Jan 9.

I will then begin the RN bridge program & God willing, I'll be finished with that in two semesters.

I'm very excited and scared to death! I want to go out shopping for my books and supplies, uniforms, shoes, ect.....but can't until we get our lists on the first day of classes.

Who else?

Oh, my, please don't pay that! Go to half.com, amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com or even walmart.com and save money. Walmart's books are ALL cheaper than the bookstore and you can get them new. If you do the other websites, get your books used and simply read everyone's ratings before you order. My books were supposed to cost $1200 also--I spent $700 baby.

I checked mine out before and it was going to be 1200 regardless. :o

I start my BSN program on Jan 9th. Very excited but a little overwhelmed with the expense. Thank goodness our school brought us in for orientation in December to explain some of the supplies that we will be needing. Luckily, I work for a hospital and they have agreed to pay for school and books if I agree to work for them. Our uniforms are pretty ordinary. Classes are four days a week, but atleast it's not Western Humanities. Can't wait to get into the meat of the learning. Good luck to you all :D

I bought all of my books on Barnes and Noble's website with their membership card. I was able to buy the books used and cheaper than available on half.com -- plus I got another 10% off for being a member at B&N. Best $25 I spent.

I'm starting an ADN program at GPC in Clarkston, GA.

Good luck to all new nursing:nurse: students!

Yes ma'am you most certainly can do it. You have LIFE experience dealing w/all sorts of ppl. You ROCK!

Good luck to you.

Just popping in to say hi.

Wow, Christmas break sure is flying by, I've been pretty unmotivated and have been LAZY! :D

Actually we had to travel to IN to visit with my husbands grandmother who was transferred to the hospice unit of her retirement center facility.

She actually ended up dying with us right there in the room. My 8yo daughter was there with us and she's a bit thrown for a loop. She'll have a story when she gets back to school next week.....

So, its Dec 30 already and I've got to get my butt in gear and get things done around here! Find someone for after-school childcare, clean out, declutter & organize this house (which is going to be no small task!!), we want to paint the livingroom & diningroom, I have to make meal plans, I want to make a bunch of freezer meals that can just be popped into the oven during the week, my kids all need haircuts & dentist appointments, a few need some new winter clothes, two need new sneakers, I need to make everyone a schedule, I need to make chore charts and lists, I need all of my uniforms, books and supplies, get my paperwork in order that needs to be turned in the firt week of classes, and the list goes on and on and on.................... :uhoh3: Oh yeah, and we're broke!!!! :crying2:

This is going to be a crazy semester, I'm taking 17 credit hours and have never done that much before - my kids all have things they are involved in that are time consuming and which they need transportation to and from, my husband sometimes works crazy hours & can't leave until the job is done, we have no support system or help and I'm getting a little bit anxious about how this is all going to work out!!!! My kids are just going to have to help out much more around the house than they do - which will be a fight to get them doing more, on a different schedule, ect....

I need a crash course on time management because its a big problem for me - maybe I'll just learn it the hard way this semester, huh?!

So, anyhow I just thought I'd check in and see if anyone else is getting any more anxious and/or feeling alot of pressure as the clock ticks away towards the start of the semester.

Try to take school as a full time job - leave in the morning and come back in the evening even on days you don't have classes. Use that time for studying, making care plans, homework..... I don't have kids myself, but I heard that it worked for some students with kids.

Good luck!:p

I AM ALMOST AS ANXIOUS AS YOU ONEHUSBANDSEVENKIDS!!!

I'm not as anxious because I have all of my paperwork, I got my uniform, my nametag, my school patch, shoes, and one of my major books.

I'm anxious because I still have to buy two books (at $150 each  ), I have no idea what I'm getting myself into, I'm thinking about buying a PDA after being explained what it was and what it does in another thread, and those things aren't that cheap either. I'm anxious and nervous about the first day of class, and class in general, since it is these classes are completely different from what I'm used to.

I'm anxious 'cuz I need money and I DON'T HAVE IT!!!! :bluecry1: Also, I'm anxious because I have to review A LOT of the material in my A&P and Micro books.

But, I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT STARTING THIS NEW LEVEL IN MY LIFE!!!!! Thank GOD I got accepted. Whew! Just needed to let that out.:chuckle :D
