Calling all LA County Sheriff's Dept. Nurses

Specialties Correctional

Hello! I can't find any LA Sheriff's Dept. nurses on here so I am starting a new thread. I am waiting for my background check to clear, then will work amongst you! What do you like about your job? What don't you like? What are the facilities like? I have many questions about what to expect. Feel free to post about anything r/t LA County Jail Nursing. I have 3-6 months to read your posts!

The dosage calculation test would make it 4.

hello...spoke with my background investigator 2 days ago she stated it is now "just a waiting game" until we get called could be waiting for budget approval, vacancy, a signature etc...so the wait continues....

Thanks for the post. I hope to get either a phone call or letter in the mail too. The medical clearance implies that we are hired, but need to wait for further instructions from the hiring department. It also says that if something happens healthwise to notify them within days or risk disqualification for 'employment'. I'm interpreting this as I'm hired, just need to wait for the next step, which is probably orientation. Hope it will be soon, I'm working registry and am on call for 10 different hospitals and I don't like the cancellations and not knowing where I'll be each day. I'm ready for consistency. (I'm not getting any younger!) :)

question what is the medical exam for?

i mean how is it?

i mean how is it?

The medical exam is just a physical that includes hearing, eyesight, urinalysis for drugs and overall health.

It takes about an hour or so and you need to fill out an inventory of your health history.

Is anyone starting orientation on Halloween :)

I am starting too, Erica. I'm still in the dark about how long orientation is and where I'll be placed. I hope it's in downtown L.A.. Congrats to you! It was a long wait, but worth it. See you on the 31st.

Has anyone interviewed with LACSD for the RN1 position in March 2011 hear anything yet??

Hello,

I've applied for RN Sheriff 1 J5139C in March 2011, taken test & interview, and received a letter on Oct 2011, placed in band 1. Has anyone heard anything yet further?? or received a call for employment, background or anything???

I hate to bump such an old thread!

But, i am currently doing my background packet.

What should i prepare for during interview?

What would disqualify you?

I have a clean record.

Hi all! So I got a letter this week scheduling me for the written exam. I'm applying for nursing assistant (I'm an LVN and most of my exp is home care, vent pts) I have a few questions!! Need help! Is there any way to study for the test? Is it nclex style? Also, what are the nursing assistants job duties? I've spoken with several different ppl that give me different answers. Also, what is the background check like? i have a clean record. Any help is appreciated! I hope this works out.
