Calling all LA County Sheriff's Dept. Nurses

Hello! I can't find any LA Sheriff's Dept. nurses on here so I am starting a new thread. I am waiting for my background check to clear, then will work amongst you! What do you like about your job? What don't you like? What are the facilities like? I have many questions about what to expect. Feel free to post about anything r/t LA County Jail Nursing. I have 3-6 months to read your posts!

No I havent, but I dont think I will. I found a job months ago and I changed my mind about the sheriffs department. Are you going to contact them?

I did called them but no concrete answer, just wait untill CEO approval, do not know when?

I just had my physical last week and they told me I would know within 3 to 4 weeks the results. They told me the next step is to be approved by the hiring department and the CEO who approves the budget. How long ago did you have your physical?

hi, i'm totally new to this website. i am a new nurse also graduated dec 09 and was not able to get into a new grad program. i applied w/the LASD last sept, interviewed in nov., started background in may, i just got a call yesterday with a start date. i know that the new budget for county jobs starts in july, so i assume everyone is getting their ducks in a row.

anyone know what's it's like to work inside?

Congrats on your start date. When did you have your physical? I'm still waiting for a start date call.

I had my physical two weeks ago, backgrounds are done. Let me know when you are starting! I don't know

what it's like in the jail, but I've heard it's a good job!

I am waiting for my start date assuming I passed the physical. When is your start date? I think there is a month of orientation. Congrats again for starting!

Did they say where you will work? Twin Towers?

Hi, I received mine last week and am wondering too. Just waiting for the hiring department to contact me with further info. I hope that the job is in downtown L.A. since I live in OC. This has been a long process, but I think it will be worth it.
