I started with this forum a long time ago and was offered the distinction of being known as Crusty Old Bat. I wonder how many of the old school are still here. Can we have a roll call?

I actually remember two mass withdrawals. There was the tragedy when the site owner died. The people that took control of AN content were pretty firm about blocking discussion of the incident on the site. The drama went offline eventually, but a lot of folks probably just opted out while it was still here.
Then there was the lawsuit from a for-profit online college that grew out of a discussion here. Lots of folks trying to CYA for a while.
I remember most of those threads, too. And I still haunt the political threads. I take breaks as well, especially when the trolls come out.
I just enjoy the way nurses think. Especially the old ones.
Where's Ruby Vee when we need her?
Ruby Vee is pushing 70 and officially retired (again). I don't check in much, but it's October . . . Domestic Violence awareness month.
I remember an exodus — I don't know how "mass" it was — when a popular poster was banned from the site. I don't remember why she was banned, just that she was and she was one of the main reasons I enjoyed the site.
I remember the poster who was certain everyone was picking on her because she was beautiful . . . and the ones about how all the old nurses should just "retire and get out of my way.”
The mean old biter nurse thread was a classic, and I remember it well.
I'll admit to being a Crusty Old Bat, and have been since the term was officially coined and became the "C.O.B. Society.”
I joined in 2007 but like a cicada, I would periodically dissappear and re-emerge every few years.
It used to be much more active years ago, and a lot of fun. Wasn't the break room one big combined section back then? I liked that better.
I remember the Pearson view trick was a huge topic with new grads, and they freaked out from having to wait a whole 3 days to see if they passed. We did 2 full days of scantron testing, and waited 3 months for results.
I could object over being called a COB, but after retiring after completing 40 years, I think that I'll just be quiet.
