Calling ALL Weatherford College students

Specializes in ICU.

I've decided that WC is where I am going to apply in June. I've tallied up my points and after this semester I will have 21. I am going to retake the TEAS and hopfully bring my math & science score up from 70's to 80's. So that would give me 23 points. I've talked to Karen Long and she said everyone with a 22 and up got accepted during the last app period, so I feel pretty good that I've got a decent shot at getting in.

Anyway - I was hoping to keep up with some of the students who are or will be in the WC program, just to give me an idea of what I have to look forward too. Also, it would be great to get to know others who are planning to apply to WC in June... we might be future classmates. :yeah:

So role call!!!!! Who is in the program?? Who is about to start the program? Who will be applying in June??

:redbeathe

I just got in for the August 2009 class (had 23 points). Sounds like you'll stand a good chance without much more effort.

Hello! I am currently in my first semester of the ADN program at Weatherford College. It is a great program with wonderful professors. It has been a lot of hard work but very enjoyable. Let me know if you have any questions about anything specific. You made a great choice in WC! Best of luck to you.

I actually have a ton of questions... Where are the clinicals at? what days are your classes this semester - or the classes for the day students? How many guys are in your class (I realize i'm going to be in a sea of estrogen, but just wondering)? Any advice as far as intructors and teaching styles? Anything you would have done differently so far? How's the homework load?

blah blah blah lol

Thanks in advance!

LOL! I can tell you are really excited! That's awesome! Let's see...the first semester of clinicals is at a nursing home. This semester we go to Westside Campus of Care in Ft Worth but I think they have another location they use as well. The second semester (Med Surg/Maternity/Pedi) clinicals will be at a hospital. Most of the clinicals are in Fort Worth with the exception of the Mental Health summer semester which is in Wichita Falls for 4 days. My classes are M 1-9:30p, W 1-5, Thurs 1-9:30, Sat 8-3 clinical. I am in the night/weekend class. The day classes start at 8am and go for pretty much the same amount of time. There are 20 people in my class and 3 are guys. The second semester students have a class of 40 and I know they have at least 5 or 6 guys in their class. It definitely makes things more interesting with the guys in class!! lol. The only advice regarding teaching style is to understand that the first semester is mostly trying to get you to 'think like a nurse.' It's definitely different than any other school/classes I have taken before but they will help you adjust. As long as you give the time and effort, you will do fine. I spend the days I am not in school studying and doing clinical work. I would say about 20 hours of work outside of class. Hope this helps! If you think of anything else, let me know and I'll be glad to answer your questions.

Thanks! You're awesome.

ok so i'm butting in b/c i'm going to weatherford on monday to take my compass test....can you tell me how this test was (if you took it)....what to study for?

hopefully i will be accepted in the lvn program in august...

I did get accepted to Weatherford College for the fall 2009 & I believe I had 23 points. The TEAS study guide is really helpful as far as what types of questions to expect.
