Greetings.
This is my story- I graduated from Nursing School in May 2008 (ADN) and passed my boards in October 2008.
I live north of San Fran and have yet to find a New Grad Program. I've been on Allnurses since last summer when I started studying to pass the boards. I used Allnurses especially the "random facts" thread which helped me pass the boards with flying colors. My family is ready to move out of the area because there is no new grad program avail out here.
I have spent hours online looking for New Grad positions in Washington State, Southern Ca, New Mexico, and Ashville NC. These are the areas, along with the Bay Area that I am interested in. I am looking to see if someone would like to buddy up or we can all help continue this thread and we can help search together for all the possible positions in the areas mentioned above or just in California. I have found that the work done alone is not enough or that I have just missed an application date, or I didn't know that blank blank just hired for the season.
The random facts thread was so hot because it was encompassing info about one main event with up to the minute info. Maybe a thread like "California's 2009 New Grad RN Program- Who's hiring right now?"- and it would include SNF's and whatever we can think of that a new nurse can do in the community, would be like the "random facts" thread. I'm sure I will hear from an Allnurses thread monitor about if this is OK or not.
At this point I am just trying to be creative and use the best resource online, which to me has been this sight.
I hope to hear from you soon.

I was wondering if someone could email me the recruitment point of contact for UCLA and Ceders-Sanai in LA. Submissions have gone to both hospitals, and just over a month ago I was told they were NOT hiring New grads. I really want to be a part of one of those teaching hospitals. 15 years military medical experience, and still a newbee??? Starting to think NO ONE reads resumes past the "Just graduated and passed My NCLEX"...
Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Scripps Hospital in San Diego has posted New Grad Programs for their Chula Vista Hospital.
Go to "Careers" on Scripps Hospital's website and follow the directions for doing a job search for
nurses and you'll see what is avail. They also have postings for nurse jobs that may not be new grad
programs but a new grad could send their info based on what is described.

what is the average pay for a new grad in san diego...its not that im overly concerned with how much I would profit but rather how much do I need to live?? They ask you what salary you expect on the applications and I stupidly put the same salary range for a new grad in Alabama and we all know the cost of living is no where close to being the same! Good Luck to everyone in their job search!
To Piscesmama,
Where do you find "random facts" on all.nurses?
Also thanks for starting this thread. I am moving to Mendocino after I graduate, June 2010, and will be looking for a position at the nearest medium-sized hospital, not many to choose from around there....I saw that the Adventist in Ukiah had a new grad program posted on their site for 2009. I'm not ready to apply yet, but if anyone does apply this year, please post your experience with it. Thanks!!

I received the invitation for the Cedars-Sinai open house via e-mail. I guess the recruiter has to send you the e-mail invite and you respond to that.Good luck on your NCLEX!
Does anyone have the recruiter's email at Cedars Sinai? I tried calling about the new grad position two weeks ago but they said it was already full. I am trying really hard to find any new grad positions in the LA area and any help will be greatly appreciated!

You have to check the websites regularly. The nurse recruiter at Mercy San Juan told me that Mercy Methodist, Mercy General, and Mercy Folsom don't have set dates for their new grad programs and so add positions here and there. 500 people applied, 200 resumes were forwarded to managers and 24 people were interviewed for the 6-10 new grad positions at San Juan. There is a lot of competition for new grad positions, especially here in the Sacramento area. Only 10-15 of my 48 classmates have jobs lined up.
When I left the MSJ interview they told me that they expect people who aren't hired to keep their skills up by working at BloodSource, a dialysis clinic or in subacute care and to continue their education. I've never worked in healthcare but I did my 4th semester clinical rotation and my preceptorship at the hospital where I was offered a job, so I'm one of the lucky few in my class.
Best of luck to all of you.
