Hi All,
Just wanted to start a forum for those planning to apply for the ABSN program at CSUN during Spring 2021.

I'm at Kaiser Sunset! They're accepting volunteers! The first 8 weeks is the front desk concierge meaning you usually check in volunteers or help discharge patients. After the 8 weeks, you can request to be assigned to a nursing unit! It took me a long time to get onboarded, so make sure you start the process asap!!
College of the Canyons also has their CNA program open for Winter/Spring!

Hi @raethehug Thank you so much for all of the information! If you have a chance, would you be able to share any tips/study strategies for the CSUN ABSN program?
@raethehug are the online lectures asynchronous or are there set lecture times? How are the labs?

It's very different for everyone. The main thing that's been a huge takeaway is there is no procrastinating whatsoever. You have to stay on top of your work. Every day you will be doing work for at least one class. If you stay on top of your work, do everything assigned, and really put in the effort, the program is definitely doable. We all have struggled but only one person has had to leave. One thing I wish I had done- start reviewing medical math problems NOW. Master IV drip rates, flow rates, conversions, etc before the medical math exam sneaks up on you in week 4.

Hi! One class has been asynchronous and the others have been set times. The cohort has been split in half for sim lab so half of us go one week and the other half go the next week. Our other lab has been split into four so each group has set times they attend that lab.

I got an email back saying that in the past, all of the people on the waitlist were accepted, because lots of folks accept their admission and then withdraw their acceptance later for other reasons (financing, etc). I would stick with it for a little while longer. One of my friends who attends another school got notified of his acceptance super late, like after orientation, so I think that it's pretty typical for lots of jockeying to happen even up to the last minute.

Thanks good to know! I hope it doesn't actually take that long because you don't hear back about financial aid until an official acceptance right?
I hate being in limbo LOL I'm waiting for some other schools to reply but I wanted to hear good news from Northridge before then!

That's right - and I hear you on that!

My email also said that I may not get an update on whether or not I'm admitted until "two weeks from now" - that was a week ago, so mid-next week I'd hope to know for sure. However, the email also didn't promise anything, so it's always possible that some folks from the waitlist don't get accepted this year, or that an acceptance doesn't come till super late. Sorry - I know it's frustrating ?

Well even if it’s just an update next week that would be nice LOL. Thanks for the info though, I feel better about waiting ? Good luck to us ??
