Whoa! Whoa! I'm from California dude, we don't call our state "cali". It's "California". And just like the locals here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we don't call the city "San Fran", it is "San Francisco". If you are from the Philippines, you wouldn't like it if outsiders will call your country "Phili", would you? I don't know exactly where you are from, but I hope you don't take offense if I give you an unsolicited advice. Hey, who knows, California could be your state someday.
Now that you are properly informed, let's go straight to the topic. As I have written in this site before, a local t.v. channel, KTVU Channel 2, reported just a few weeks ago about "the end of the nursing shortage" here in the San Francisco Bay Area. The report cited the "high salary" given to RNs here as the reason for ending the nursing shortage. The same report, however, claims that there remains a nursing shortage in many parts of the U.S.A.
Many RNs in large acute care hospitals here in the SF Bay Area earn around $50/hour, some staff nurses with enough seniority earn as much as $65/hour or more. Can you blame the RNs from other states who earn "only" $25 to $30 per hour are coming to work here? This has resulted in an oversupply of nurses in the region. I think this will result in less salary raises in the future, and/or lower starting salaries for new hires. Does this mean that in the future you will see fewer RNs driving Mercedes Benses, BMWs and Lexus?
Just a thought. (Wink! Wink!)

Application process is lengthy in NY. They need CVS from CGFNS and it may take 6-8 month (on average). After that NY Board will make you eligible for NCLEX examination. So the whole process may take upto a year to complete and if you pass the NCLEX, NY Board will issue your RN license even without SSN and it is valid for 3 years. You need not retake the NCLEX to renew your license after 3 years. Just pay the license fee and you will get it renewed.

NY will still take approx 6-8 months as you still have to go through CVS and it all depends on how quick CGFNS get your documents
