CSULB EL-MSN Fall 2010 Applicants

U.S.A. California

Hello,

The application for CSULB EL-MSN Fall 2010 is due Friday April 2nd! Get your stuff in! Has anybody that has submitted already, gotten a confirmation back or heard anything. I submitted the first week in March and nothing for me yet. I hear there will be an interview for the first time this year. Goodluck everyone!! I got impatient waiting for someone to start a thread for us applicants...so I just did it :)

I just picked up the email that we must purchase the ATI materials for $400-some dollars! Seems like a rip-off! We all hold degrees, know how to study, and take tests, take responsibility for our own learning, and are paying for tuition...why do we need to support ATI for additional DVD's, books, and practice tests? I would like to know if previous students had time to use them, or found them helpful. I had already ordered both the Saunders and Mosby NCLEX guide and had planned to use it throughout program. I have a hard time justifying this cost. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Hey everyone! I am applying for Fall 2011. Now that you are all in the program what do you think? What are classes like? What are the teachers like? Clinicals? I have turned down two acceptance letters one to san marcos absn and one to national university because I really want to go to long beach's el-msn program. I calculated my points and I have around a 9.3 so I feel that I am strong candidate. Any information would be great. I look forward to meeting all of you in the future.

Hey everyone,

This may not come as a surprise to many of you. I guess I've been MIA from the CSULB SON website, but I've just noticed this sidenote on the future of the ELM program:

Entry Level MSN: Due to budget issues, the ELM program will not be able to admit for Fall 2011 unless funding is received. The next cohort will probably be for Fall 2013.

They received funding and will be accepting a cohort for Fall 2011.

Hey Carolyn,

This is an old thread for last years class... I started a new one for fall 2011... I noticed that you are applying to all the same schools as I am... San marcos, Concorida, and Long beach... I got accepted into San Marcos but I really want to go to Long Beach's entry level masters are you applying? Respond on the new thread that I started... I am trying to see what the competition is like! Good luck!

I recognize that this is a year-old thread, but I was curious... For those of you who are still in the ELM program, what are your general thoughts about clinicals, classes, instructors, and the pace of the program? Did you find the program enjoyable, overwhelming, completely taxing, etc? Did you feel adequately prepared to work in a clinical setting? I was admitted to the program this past May and I am trying to get a good idea of what to expect prior to starting the program in August. Thank you for your input!

Hey jen I also have been admitted for this fall... there are a ton of us on FB if you can find us just type in our graduation code.... Some of the people on there know people in the program so they are a good group to ask... let me know what you find!

Hi Malefocker! Thanks for replying to my post. I am actually already a member of the ELM group on Facebook (and, if I am not mistaken, we might already be friends on Facebook). I believe I am the only Jen in the group! :) Do you happen to know anyone who is in the program at present? I just found out that I was admitted to Saddleback's ADN program, which is actually significantly closer to where I live, and now I am sincerely confused as to which school I should attend. I need to make a decision soon! I find the pace of the ELM program a little intimidating, and I was also a little discouraged by some of the comments current students made at orientation. I don't know what to do!

@JennNicole; Which programd did you end up attending? How do you like it?
