U.S.A. California

Hello,

The application for CSULB EL-MSN Fall 2010 is due Friday April 2nd! Get your stuff in! Has anybody that has submitted already, gotten a confirmation back or heard anything. I submitted the first week in March and nothing for me yet. I hear there will be an interview for the first time this year. Goodluck everyone!! I got impatient waiting for someone to start a thread for us applicants...so I just did it :)

Hey everyone,

This may not come as a surprise to many of you. I guess I've been MIA from the CSULB SON website, but I've just noticed this sidenote on the future of the ELM program:

Entry Level MSN: Due to budget issues, the ELM program will not be able to admit for Fall 2011 unless funding is received. The next cohort will probably be for Fall 2013.

I know they sort of mentioned it at orientation, but 2013?! I've been going around allnurses and found out they've cut out quite a few of the NP tracks at CSULB for this upcoming school-year as well ("all NP programs were canceled due to budget except pediatric NP. She said that it will be push to spring 2011, which is still indefinite. And that if an applicant wants to go to spring 2011 NP program , one will have to just apply to the CCPE .").

On a brighter note: WE START IN A MONTH!!! i'm so very excited to meet all of you. Don't forget about getting those health req's in before the 30th. Re-congrats and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Heyas,

Did anyone order their uniforms yet?

Well...... the deadline was 8/13, at least for the ELM cohort. Maybe it's different for the other groups?

Haha. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come but I totally missed that deadline. Didn't remember until then and went to place my order. Hopefully being a week late doesn't screw me up.

Yeah, hopefully not. On a side note that there may have been something that I missed: has anyone received an email from ----- yet for course number for BIO 304/305?

Nope, with one more week to go, I'll be checking my emails constantly to make sure i meet the reg deadline.

I remember a list of the supplies outside of uniforms and books but I can't find it anywhere. It was for supplies like a sphygmomanometer and penlight and some other things. Does anyone have that list? And does anyone have any ideas of a good sphygmomanometer to purchase?

I'm not sure if I've seen a list but I know on the Dove website, it lists the items that comes with the nursing kit that you can order.

Specializes in Ambulatory.

I think you're referring to the CNSA list of recommended equipment that was part of the orientation packet. It includes stethoscope, BP cuff (w/o Sprague option), medical clipboard w/ calculator, stainless steel bandage scissors (5 1/2" is recommended), and pen light. Other recommended items are wristwatch w/ large face and secondhand & plain white t-shirts to be worn under uniform.

Hey guys! I was JUST accepted to the ELM program last week because somebody dropped out (I was an alternate). I'm scrambling to buy my books now and I'm wondering how important it is to get the elsevier package. I noticed a lot of you are talking about amazon. How necessary is it to have ebooks and all the other features of the elsevier books? The bookstore wants $812 for the package and that doesn't even include everything!

What I've heard from a few of the ELM4 cohort is that the elsevier package it more or less a rip-off, which was kind of my take on it. Go amazon or ebay or somewhere else that can get you what you need for cheaper.

That's what I kind of thought. Thanks! You just saved me about $400.
