Can anyone who got accepted to CSULB tell me what your resume looked like when you were accepted? GPA, Teas Scores, Prereq Scores, etc? I'm planning on applying to the program for Fall 2010 and I will still have Physiology in progress when I apply (but everything else completed). Does it make a huge difference if you have a course in progress? I know they count it as a C. I'm just wondering what my chances are of getting in, i know its really competetive, but then again they let in 90 students per semester which is pretty good for a CSU.

I have a 3.7 GPA overall, 4.0 GPA in my sciences, I got a 89.4% on my TEAS, and I had work experience and volunteer exp (even though these are not factors). All my classes were finished when I applied. Hope this helps!

Thanks! My main goal is just to be eligible to apply next year and so I probably won't get in because of the class in progress, but then when I apply the next year I'll have a better chance because I'll have applied before, and I will have finished Physio.

I had a TEAS test of 86 overall and like 92 in math (since they count the teas twice, once for the average and once for the math score).. Had A's and B's in my sciences, A's in all other classes (english, math, communication, etc), and I had Biochem in progress (5 units)..

I got accepted first try. Just remember, it all depends on the other applicants at the time.. If everyone else applying then has decent grades then your scoring will compare to theirs. Any more questions just ask...!

I am in the program right now, finishing my last semester. I love the program here. There are awesome clinical and lecture teachers, with a few duds, but that's always expected.

The school partners with Long Beach Memorial and other hospitals in the area. If you want, you can sign a contract with Long Beach Memorial so that they pay your tuition/books and you can work for them two years after. It is what I did and I am very happy with my decision, as working there for two years right after graduation will be a good transition.

A couple more questions..

Were you in the semester or trimester program? and how did you like it versus your thoughts about the other?

Where did you do clinicals? and how are the teachers?

I visited the campus over the summer and it was by far my favorite out of all the southern california CSUs. We actually visited it for my brother (drama major) and it just made me want to go there more than I already did. My mind keeps going back and fourth from CSULB and SFSU, which is funny because my brother wanted to go to CSULB initially and ended up deciding to go to SFSU because they weren't taking spring transfers... ironic. (haha, sorry if thats to much info, i just realized that).

I also was wondering, how demanding is the schedule, like, if i wanted to take other classes as well. I might have some GE courses left to do, but I'd also like to take some dance clases if I have time. What do you think?

Ooh, I just thought of one more, do you think working as a CNA would be benefical before nursing school, that is my plan, and I know it doesn't count for admission, but just curious what you think. Thanks!

Also, does Long Beach Memorial have a limit to how many students they make that deal with? It seems like an awful lot of students to to that for every semester.

so again, do you get paid for those two years? if yes, how much?

Hey i just got accepted for the spring 09 BSN prog, so here goes...i basically had good academic standing...nothing apart from that....had 3.85 gpa, my science gpa was 4.0, and my Teas which i did bad was 81.2

i had noo volunteer or clinical experience..but as u know i still got accepted.

i drove myself to finish all the pre-req in the summer to finish it...i put in my whole summer (as in a spring/fall full time sem) it was horrible anyway...im glad i did it cause i got into the program :yeah:

i would suggest you to finish the pre-reqs before applying. and finally all the very best.

Thanks for the reply, everyone helps so much.

I simply don't have enought time to finish all of the prereqs in the fall semester before i apply. I was planning on going to my JC for 3 years instead of two, and now that I've cut back to two, my only option is to have a science course in progress.

I've taken chemistry and bio, and the only science classes i would want to take over the summer would be micro, which they don't offer over summer, or physio, but I want to take anatomy first, which i won't be able to get into this spring because I don't have first day priority registration and all the anatomy classes fill up within that first day, theres nothing anyone can do about it.

I figure if i do not get in the first time around, I will still be ahead of my 3 year goal, and I'll just apply again for the spring, and i'll have all my prereqs done, plus I'll have applied before, so hopefully that will increase my chances.

I'm a good student, A in chem, speech and english so far, B in bio (which doesnt count as a prereq for CSULB thank god), I'm not toooo worried about the others, only anatomy.

I'll just hope, prey and study my *** off.

Also, I saw in another thread that Long Beach Memorial pays their new grad nurses about 28.50. This was about a year ago, so it may have changed some, but its probably in the same ballpark. Its not that great, but its also a REALLY good hospital, everyone seems to love it.
