California will not post your name on the website because you won't actually have a license number assigned to you until you have a Social Security Number. There is no quick way of finding out, just keep checking your mailbox. You eil not receive a license but a letter that states that you have passed NCLEX and have met the requirements for licensure and that you have three years to get the SSN# to them or you will have to begin the application process all over again. The wait time can be two to three weeks before the letter will go out, then my mail, not courier service.
This is one of the major reasons that I suggest that no foreign nurse get initial licensure in CA. If you want to endorse to another state you are literally in a heap of hot water as they say here because you do not have license to endorse until they have the SSN#.

You can cover them with a cloth and use them as a little table. :)

I have sent CBON a request for validation of results and that should be visa screen complete once they recieve them.

Thanks for your support trevor

Hi Suzanne, im not fussed about working in california. I would like to work in a cardiac OR with transplantation, I have 5 years experience in cardiac currently working in level one Trauma OR but will be returning to cardiac soon. I havnt started any imigration yet but hopefully should have my visa screen certificate soon. You have told me in the past about the problems involved with initial licensure in CA but I had started the application before I found your forum. So im prepared for hassles with endorsment to other states.
I would prefer to work around the gulf of mexico and as far up the east coast as Durham North Carolina.
Im so glad to have passed that exam, its great having all these new things to think about. cheers trevor
Loma Linda, UCLA, and Stanford would be choices for working in CA, and involving transplants.
Try those first, then I will get on my thinking cap for you............. :)

Thank you, Do you have any advice about cv/reumes Im in the uk and I think it would be a good idea to get an American style cv is there any particular format that is preferred by us hospitals? is it worth putting a photo on it?
thanks again your advice is much appreciated trevor:)
If you have Micosoft Word, they offer a nice format.
A picture is nice but is not necessary.
The CVs that I have seen from other countries in Europe and Asia actually have the same format that we do.
If you put one together, I will be happy to look at it for you............ :)
