we are seeing more and more posts regarding california and getting results.
for pn it takes on average 4 weeks to get your results, until you get your results via snail mail and pay for your license you will not see your name on the website and will not have a license issued. sometimes it may take longer to get your results if there has been a large influx of applications and test takers. if you find you have to contact them because you haven't heard anything they will usually indicate on what date they are processing.
for rn you will only have a license issued if you have a ssn and have given it to the brn. if you have no ssn then you will not see your name on the brn website. if you inform them you have a ssn after your application is sent in or after you have taken the nclex then give them a few days to up date their files on you. it takes approx 3-10 days to get your results online (as long as you meet requirements and have a completed file) although can take longer. do not ring them until at least 2 weeks has gone passed as the more people ring means a delay on updating yours/others file. majority of times you do not hear anything is due to a incomplete file as california allows you to sit nclex in most cases with a incomplete file, they will not release your results until it is complete. we have had members contact brn to find that there is a problems with their fingerprints or their transcripts haven't arrived so can easily be something simple enough to sort out.
any questions regarding california please post here
if you are a foreign trained nurse and applied to california and have no ssn then you will not see your name on the website and if you do not provide a ssn within the 3 years then your file is destroyed which does include your nclex results. if you are caught up in retrogression and your 3 years are nearly up then we suggest you apply to another state for licensure by exam and arrange with ca to forward your nclex results. you will still have to meet the bon requirements for foreign trained nurse so do not leave this to the last minute.
sorry to hear that you failed.hi! i am just newbie here..i just want to ask..i took the nclex last june and failed.is there a web site that i can download the re-application form? i cant find the re-application form that the California BON have sent me..thanks! :wink2:
the bon sends usually the reapplication form with your test result.did'nt you recieve it yet?otherwise call the board and ask for it.
Hello. My name is Donna and I am new to the allnurses.com forums. I am so grateful to have found the prefect support group. I do have a question, but first I will relay my history.
I graduated from an AD nursing program in 1977, successfully passed my state boards, and worked many years as an RN. I was lucky enough to be able to retire from nursing after the birth of my third child to be a stay home mom. My baby is now 16 years old and a head taller than me. I find I miss my nursing practice, and would love to rejoin the work force. I took a 3 day intense review course, subscribed to an online nclex online practice module, studied a couple comprehensive text books, and felt ready to test. I took the nclex of December 2, 2008. When my application was accepted by the California Board of Registered nursing, they sent me 2 documents. The first was the ATT, the second was by the Pearson-Vue company called 'Quick Results Service.' I noticed that California is not on the approved list, but signed into the website for confirmation. There it was in big red font 'Your Board of Nursing does not participate in the Quick Results Service.'
I have logged onto the board's website in order to view my status, and nothing comes up. My question is.. are these my only options in the state of California? Should I just remain patient and wait for my letter? I am very uneasy waiting for my results.
Thank you for your attention. I have enjoyed reading all the testimonials, and I wish us all the very best of luck.

Hi and welcome to the site. Ca doesn't participate in quick results and average time to see results is 3-10 days. Give it until 2 weeks and if you don't see anything give them a ring. Moving this to the thread regarding questions for Ca
Hi, I'm new to this as well and i wanted to know how long do you get your NCLEX_PN results in CA. I took mines on 11/11 and it shut down at 85. I'm still waiting for my result and my friend who took it after me has recieved his results. Does it mean I failed because when i called in they said they were on 11/20

PN results in Ca take on average 4 weeks, just because you haven't got yours yet means nothing.

hi!I am a foreign graduate, is it true that if you haven't got your license in CA in two years time you will have to take NCLEX again? What if i still can't get a visa to CA?
What suggestions can you give me and other foreign graduate RN?
Please take the time to read the International forum as much has been written on this.
Basically you have 3 years not 2 to provide a SSN and if you don't then your file is destroyed hence your NCLEX results are also destroyed. Before your 3 years are up you need to either ask Ca for a extension (not guaranteed) or apply to another state and ask Ca to forward your NCLEX results for a small fee. You can not apply for endorsement as you have no license to endorse so will need to complete the application by exam and meet BON requirements for foreign trained nurse. Be aware we are seeing more and more states not give a license without SSN or other proof that you are in the US legally and can work but at the moment haven't seen many other states destroy file after 3 years.
I am on day 8 after testing on 12/2 and still no word from the brn website. I am already grieving for fear that I have failed. That is the only explanation I can come up with for my not seeing my name posted on the board. I tried so hard on the test. I studied for 2 months largely using the plan you detailed. The test shut off after around 80 questions. I was truly stumped on about 5 items. No matter how hard I would have studied I would not have known the answer to those questions. Drugs I had never heard of or read about. Impossible questions. I have a muscle spasm between my shoulder blades so that I can hardly breathe. What should I do? I pray without ceasing but I am still in pain. Help!

PN takes on average for Ca 4 weeks and you will not see your name on website as they will post results first and then you pay for license. But reading this is looks as if you actually took RN and not PN. Can you please clarify?
