hi! how can i have my california license verified if i haven't been issued a license yet due to lack of ssn? i didn't declare in my visascreen application that i already have a license in california because they asked for my license number which i don't have yet. i just put there that i already passed the nclex. can't they just verify with pearson vue the results of my exam?

Do you actually have a SSN#? If not, then you cannot endorse your results and must use the License by Examination application.

Also not sure what type of visa that you have since you are needing the VSC. You are looking at more than five years for a chance at a green card or to be able to adjust your status, chances are more than likely that the VSC will need renewing by then.

If you go for licensure in Illinois first, then you will be required to obtain verification from them as well for the VSC.

Thanks for the reply :lol2:

no i don't have an SSN. I'm a foreign graduate nurse from the Phil., I'm thinking to start my VSC now so the process is moving while im here in US..then wait for the retrogression to be lifted in the phil.. And if it is lifted i will apply for licensure by examination to IL to transfer my results.

Is that a nice idea suzanne?:coollook:

We do not expect it to be lifted for more than seven years with the number that are already inline in front of you. The VSC is not actually needed until one is ready for their interview if going thru Consular Processing out of the country. Only passing of the NCLEX is required for an employer to offer you a job in the first place.

I would wait to do anything with Visa Screen at this time. But just make sure that you go thru Illinois for licensure before your letter expires. No sense to do it now.

oh i see

thanks for the suggestion suzanne but yesterday i called BRN of IL and they said that i cannot apply for licensure by examination to them coz they also need SSN number to give me license so they said that i wait for my SSN number in cali and then endorse to them my cali license.

Is that make sense?

thanks again

The majority of states are changing their requirements now. They will permit someone to sit for the NCLEX in each and every state without the SSN#, but most will not issue a license without the SSN# any longer.

Since you have already tested, there is nothing that Illinois can do until you possess a SSN# and a license to endorse. You would be applying for licensure by examination and then CA would have to submit the results to them. But there is nothing that they can do so they do not want to keep an open file on you for multiple years.

VT is still issuing a license without a SSN#, but do not know how much longer that this will be in place.

okay, thanks so much suzanne, your a great help

Hello, I am a nurse from the Philippines. I took and passed my NCLEX for California but I don't have my SSN yet.

I am also applying for my visascreen. I read on the Ca BRN website that I need to send my "Validation of Registration/License For VisaScreen" to the following address:

California Board of Registered Nursing

Attn: Renewals Unit

P.O. Box 944210

Sacramento, CA 94244-2100

However, I received an email from the Renewals Unit where they said that since I do not yet have a license, all questions/paperwork should go through the licensing unit.

Do you think I should change the "Attn" to Licensing Unit? I'm worried, I don't want it to be lost because I sent it to the wrong unit. :-|

hello! i also have the same question... please please can somebody post the exact address where we can send via Fed-ex the Request for Validation of Registration/License for Visa Screen together with the $60 bank draft...

do not post a link, it really confuses me.

or...just tell me which one of these?

1.)Board of Registered Nursing

1625 North Market Boulevard, Suite N217

Sacramento, CA 95834-1924

2.)California Board of Registered Nursing

Attn: Renewals Unit

P.O. Box 944210

Sacramento, CA 94244-2100

:redbeatheMuch love!

[and what is the difference between the $10 bank draft and the $60 i've been hearing and reading about???]

...I really need your help guys,

-I want to apply for my Visascreen

-I already passed my NCLEX (California)

-I still don't have my IELTS (I know it is required)

-I still don't have my license in Cali bcoz I don't have my SSN

My questions are:

-what would be the form I have to send to Cali BON to verify I have passed the NCLEX ? Is it the Visascreen application form? and they're just going to fill up the ICHP number there?

-do i need to take the IELTS first before requesting for my verification in Cali BON?

-where would the Cali BON be sending my verification that I passed the exam?

I'm really confused, hay I'm sorry... to make it easy what would be the steps I have to take to apply Visascreen with the given situation.. Thanks for giving time answering my queries...

There is a verification form in the handbook and as far as I am aware that is all that you need, CA charge a small fee $60 and they will send it directly to ICHP

Check and read the VSC handbook
