Calhoun Community College 2016

Published

Hello,

I know it's still a bit early, but I was wondering if anyone is applying for the Fall of 2016 program at Calhoun?

I haven't heard if there will be a difference in the letter size. I followed a post last fall of people applying for this spring. One of the post was about a guy getting his acceptance letter. He made his wife open it because he was too nervous. That'd make me think they'll be the same size, cause wouldn't you know by just looking at the letter size whether or not you got in?

Also I'm terrible at this waiting. I literally just told me husband last night I didn't understand why April was taking so long, and that it just needs to be May already.

I am about to go crazy waiting! I thought it was just me! I even dreamed about getting accepted last night!!!!:dead:

I am applying for the evening program in the fall too. I had 209 points, but admissions called to tell me (less than a week before the application was due) that my A in A&P 1 wasn't going to transfer in from my previous college in MS. So.. I lost out on 30 points and am down to 179. Really hoping that will be good enough because I don't think I will be able to swing the daytime program with a full time job :(

Waiting is the worst! Plus not knowing how many points you have to have. So basically you have no idea at all if you will be accepted or denied.

hc287, so sorry for the trouble. Hopefully 179 will be sufficient. I feel like I'm going to go stir-crazy waiting.

So, I'm sure you other students who have applied to the PTE rn program received the same email as me from the nursing department but I wanted to update on here so that everyone knows what's going on. The evening nursing program will no longer be starting this fall (2016). All applicants who want or need to do the evening program will only be able to start spring 2017! I am so disappointed and sad. This is awful. I have sent the secretary an email asking her if we apply for the evening program now will we find out in 3 weeks if we got accepted into the program for the spring or will we have to wait until October when the normal deadline will end. She has not responded yet. I also have questions as to whether or not we will have to take the ACT now. That would be stinky since we already paid for the TEAS and met the deadline. Also, if we start in the spring of 2017, it actually pushes our grad date 7 months! We would graduate in december 2018 instead of may 2018. Let me know what y'alls' thoughts are.

I was initially upset (still kind of bummed) but it will help us get a feel for the pace. My husband is is very busy in the fall because he is a football coach. I was still hoping to start in the fall but I guess we will have to wait:(.

I am curious to hear what she says about being accepted. Please let us know if you hear. I would hope we would not have to take the ACT since our admission requirements were listed before this and we have already applied. That would be very sneaky. I also hope this means that they won't be accepting applications through September. I am guessing they will answer everything at the information session. I will just have my questions ready.

Hey all,

She did say we would still find out the first week of May. I too was initially bummed, but I'm going to take classes that are necessary for my bachelor's to make the most out of the situation. The full-time part is what really sucks, but I think that was more the state than calhoun...

I'm not bummed that the PTE program ends in Dec 2018 since that was the graduation date when it was 7 semesters but I'm now trying to decide if I want to wait a whole semester or just try to make the day time program work.

I was bummed at first, but the more I think about the more okay I am with it. Plus for me it means I won't need to take a summer class, which I'm excitefree about as my husband and I are going out of town for our 5 year anniversary and it means I won't have to plan school around that.

I also agree that it being changed to a full time thing is what sucks more.

All of your optimism has made me feel better. That is so true! I completely forgot that the program used to be 7 semesters and pushing it back a semester now that it's going to be 5 really isn't that big of a deal. Such great news about hearing around the same time. That will help my nerves.
