Calhoun Community College 2016

Published

Hello,

I know it's still a bit early, but I was wondering if anyone is applying for the Fall of 2016 program at Calhoun?

Now I am starting to think I should send an email to verify they received my package. I really wish they would provide a print out of the new PT program classes.

She post a picture of it last night. The newer nursing course lay out for both day and night RN programs is:

Semester 1 - Nur 112 is 7 credit/13 contact hours

Semester 2 - Nur 113 is 8 credit/16 contact hours

Semester 3 - Nur 114 & 115 is 11 credit/18 contaact hours

Semester 4 - Nur 211 is 7 credit/ 13 contact hours

Semester 5 - Nur 221 is 7 credit/15 contact hours

Do you know did they say the points we need or if all lowers are completed? I know UAH you have to have all lowers completed wondering if Calhoun follows the same rule?

You do not have to have all lowers completed, you just got more points if they are. If you don't you just have to take whatever course you lack in the semester they say to. So for example if you lack math and in their program set up they have people taking math in the third semester you just have to wait and take it then. Also just as an encouragenebt cause I know you said you were thinking about not applying, at the session last night the lady leading the session said that she couldn't remember for sure but she thought the cut off was aroubd 150 - 160 last time.

Thank you ! I have all my lowers so that's good ! I will apply and hope for the best! Good luck everyone!!!

Thanks for the info BRing914, this is making me nervous. I hope that I'm still able to do the evening program since they are changing things. Even though I've already been to an information session, I'm thinking that I should go to the one on March 28 because they didn't share any of this with us. Does anyone know how the evening classes work? The way I understood it was that you view all your lectures online, go to class once a week for testing and labs and you have clinicals once a week. Now will we do lectures at home, labs twice a week and clinicals once a week? That's 3 days of going to campus right?

I am applying to the evening ADN program with 139.6 points and 4.0GPA. I am still taking my sciences so my points are still low. If I don't get in I can finish my sciences and apply for Day Program in the Spring.

I went to information session yesterday (3/10) and from what I understood you have to go to class 2 nights a week and clinicals were still in evening and weekend. She said the psych clinicals are during the day no matter what.

Does anybody know if students carpool to class? I think that if we do get accepted (evening program), we should consider taking turns driving to school. I think that I remember someone saying that they live in Huntsville. I'm in madison. Just a thought!

Like JROY1982 said, it sounds like evenings will now meet twice a week, clinicals will be on the weekends except for psych which will be during the week. She did say something about blackboard, so maybe some of the lectures are in person, and some are online?

How's everyones semester going? Only 7 is weeks left.

I am so ready for this semester to be done! This waiting game for nursing is going to be the death of me over these next few weeks.

I haven't thought it about to much because we just moved so I have been crazy trying to unpack a house. I am a little nervous about the changes in the program. Having to go more than one night a week is a little overwhelming due to my husbands work schedule in the fall. I will more than likely have to find childcare until he gets home (if I get in).:(

I'm applying for the full time program in the fall with 195 points, I'm hoping this is enough!
