I'm a Senior in HS now!!!! I'm not required to take either but was wondering what you guys would choose? I'm only going to take on of them and undergrad calc is not required @ my BSN nursing school to graduate. Does that make sense? If not, let me know and i'll clarify. So Calculus v. physics, what would you choose?

Brett,
Call BCHS and ask them about AP placement. If you take calculus you might be able to test out of having to take College Algebra. Some schools allow you to do this, and it would save you some time during collge. That way you might be able to get something else out of the way next summer!
...you'll have to have a strong math background for physics!!! you'll have to have some foundation when you take college level chemistry as well...it only makes sense to take the calculus course so that you'll be able to properly go through chemistry, bio-chemistry, or any college level sciences...as prerequisites always seem to change with each year of college.originally posted by stevedif you can only take one, take physics. you will find the everyday applications of physics far more useful than calculus. physics will also give you a solid foundation for learning chemistry or any other science class you might take. although calculus would give you a solid foundation for learning physics...
good luck to you in your future endeavors - moe!
Moe,
thanks for the advice. I don't really need calc to do physics b\c our math is way advanced. The class I took last year was College Algebra I&II, HS Trig. Geometry, and HS Calculus. What's called "Honors Calculus" in reality is College Calculus. It's a little confusing at times, lol. Thanks for the adivce!
Brett
DET-I e-mailed Dr. Moon and asked her. I didn't even think of that, lol!
thanks!
