Anyone planning on applying to the Spring 2011, CSUSM, accelerated ABSN program? Just wondering if there is anyone else out there:)
Hey folks,The advisors are evaluating and ranking all applicants for the highly competitive Fall 2010 cohort. We are evaluating in the order in which we receive your last official transcript and TEAS exam score.
I must point out and turn down the heat in here that there are a limited number of qualified ABSN applicants admitted to the Fall 2010 cohort. The point system is a tool that allows us to rank order and notify our applicants accordingly. To view the point system, please visit: http://www.csusm.edu/el/degreeprograms/absn/ABSNProgramAssignedPointsCriteria.pdf and calculate the points you have.
Should you not make it into the Fall 2010 cohort but applied using the Spring 2011 application, your application will roll forward...if you qualify, you will be considered for the Spring 2011 cohort. Your application and associated documents will be valid for one year from the date you submitted your application.
If you've had the opportunity to attend an ABSN Information Session, you know that Robin and I are here for you...your advisors are listening.
Stay focused on the admissions criteria and don't settle for just meeting the minimums...don't we all want to be nurses that have achieved academic excellence...?
Thanks for the response! I just calculated my points based on your system and I was curious what a competitive score might be. I came up with 29 out of 52... that seems low to me.
It has been a bit of both. It is a new program so I went into it knowing it may not be perfect, but it has been extremely disorganized. The school of nursing blames extended learning, but extended learning is getting much better. The school of nursing needs to get more organized. You will find out your clinical assignment just days before they start and they change up the days on you often. A few of our lecture instructors have been pretty bad, but the bad ones have left each time we have had them. There are some good ones though. It just needs a lot more structure, and there need to be more care in the management of the program. Some of my friends in the generic program are having there testing dates held for boards until they score higher on ATI's..so unfair..and that is all to make the school look good. If you decide on this program..I just want others to go into it knowing it is extremely frustrating. A friend I work with is in a program through Univ of Phon and she has had a much easier time..and a lot less stress.
Hello, all! Been following the boards for a while now, especially regarding the SDSU ABSN program (what in the world is going on with that one?) and the CSUSM ABSN program. My advisor at CSUSM told me that they're hoping to get word out to applicants within the next 2 weeks or so. I actually was offered conditional admittance today, which was a very nice surprise. I'm pretty much set, I have no more courses in progress, just need to get one more official transcript in. I have until June 28th to respond, along with the $250 deposit that gets credited toward the first semester fees. I hope you all hear back soon as well!
Hi! I sent you a PM with my email, hopefully you can read it!
Yes, I too am concerned about the school's reputation. Did you hear about the disorganization from the person who posted on this thread, or did you hear from someone else?Luckybella... If you are reading, I am trying to accumulate 15 posts so that I can PM you about SDSU.

Wow, that is very disappointing. Is the whole program a mess or just classes or clinicals?
