Hey Sarah so the reason why I declined the offer to San Marcos is because I really want to get a MSN as well and there are a couple programs which will allow me to go straight into a MSN. Here are my thoughts. If you know for sure that you want to get a MSN then you should try and go for your MSN. You don't need a BSN and you don't need an ADN. You can do what is called an entry level masters in nursing... which is abbreviated el-msn. It is for students who already have a bachelors in something other than nursing but want to receive a MSN (like you and myself) Some schools that are close to you that have this program are long beach, fullerton, and hahn school of nursing in san diego they are typically 3 years and the program I am trying to get into long beach is the same price as San Marcos. I did some research and yes you can get your ADN or BSN for that matter and do a bridge program to get your MSN. However, I did find that most schools that offer this type of program require you to have at least 2 years of nursing experience if not more before you apply, regardless of whether or not you have an ADN or BSN. BSN I have heard from my nursing friends do make a little more 1 or 2 dollars more an hour but nothing significant. Anyway the masters program I want to get into doesn't start still August but I feel it is worth it for me to wait until then and in 3 years come out with a msn instead of starting school at san marcos and then in 2 years have a bachelors degree when I know I will eventually have to go back and get my masters. Not to mention doing the whole process from nothing basically to MSN saves me a lot of money. Anyway if you have any questions please PM me I have a lot of friends in nursing programs and who are nurses some with ADN's some with BSN's and some with MSN's they all tell me that the first thing to do is to figure out what direction you want to go in and then take it from there. Goodluck
