CA BON OR NY BON ?

Published

I just received an letter from CA BON stating i do not meet the minimum requirment and i have to take additional 2 classes obstetric and pediatric nursing. I read online someone with same situation reapplied through NY BON and got eligible. Does anyone know if i apply through NY board of nursing and get eligible and then have eligibility converted to CA by paying a fee? I heard NY BON is not as strict as CA?

Hmm well Im in fl failed Nclex 3x & applied to Texas BON & they said I didn't meet the educational requirements & I applied to GA BON but they said since I failed it 3x in FLA I had to meet FLA requirements before I could test again so I applied to NY BON & had no problem with them at all...all thanks to God tho but u should try NY they seem to be pretty easy going about the whole thing

I see that for NY you have to have child abuse 2 hour class finished. Did you already had taken child abuse course before you applied to NY BON ? or taken it afterwards?

You will not be able to endorse (transfer) from any out of state RN license into a State like CA if they are already rejecting your application for missing or lack of courses and or hours or any other State if once denied due to not able to meet that State's particular educational requirements.

In CA, there are a two known colleges, located in the So Cal area that might be able to help you, suggest reading more into the many topics already covered there in the World forum under "Nurse Regisration". Tuition is about $7,000 plus $1,000 or more for books and supplies, must be pay up front and approved by the CA BON.

The Bay Area has one known college, SFSU, but like any of the CA colleges, expect a long wait list as there are literally 1,000's of international students going after a few open spots. In any case, make sure any CA courses you take has the full approval of the CA BON or you're wasting your valuable time and money.

Each State has different requirements, it all depends on where you plan to work the minute you pass the NCLEX. State hopping is a big waste of time and money again, as you will have to pay double fees, pass certain English exam (if needed), have courses evaluated. etc. If CA is not possible, keep on searching to a State you plan to raise your kids to college age and always be aware of their educational minimum standard requirments and remember ANY and ALL application fees is non-refundable, so it's money you can afford to lose if your application is rejected.

Australian trained nurses tend not to have clinical and theory hours in Paeds and Obstetrics and if this is the case then going to another state makes no difference as requirements will be similar ie you will be required to have clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Obstetrics, Mental Health and Adult. Just the hours required that varies

Moved to the Nurse Registration forum as nothing to do with taking the actual exam
