Butte College RN Program Spring 2020

I just applied for the first time for Spring 2020, but was reading other threads that said some people had to apply 7 times before getting in (that was in 2014 though)!!! Is anyone applying to the program for the first time or again? What seems to the number of times people are applying these days before they get in?

My study partner and I both didn’t get in on our 6th try. Very disheartening to have waited all these months stressing and didn’t even get in. Ugh. Hopefully, we will have better luck in the Sept lottery.

I received an e-mail after the RN lottery results in regarding the mass emails yesterday and how some people different receive emails. Here's the copy and pasted message:

"Good afternoon,

I apologize to everyone who has been waiting for lottery results. I did send a mass email out yesterday letting everyone know I have permission to move forward with the selection, but our automatic IT security flagged the emails as possible spam because of the sheer number of recipients. I have been working all day to get notifications out and was just now able to send the RN lottery results, but I still have some work to do to get the LVN-RN lottery and LVN lottery results going. I am only in the office two days a week and will not be able to get those notifications out to you until Thursday. I apologize for the inconvenience. Please look for your lottery results notification email on Thursday. Thank you."

I did not get into the RN program but this was my first round, so I didn't expect to get in. I also applied to LVN-RN so this email might have only been sent to the LVN-RN and LVN pool.

I feel the same way. This was my 5th time and I’ve spent weeks angsting and stressing, and I’m still not in. Fingers crossed for September, this wait is really taking a toll on me mentally feeling like I’m having to wait forever to even get started with what I want to do with my life.

Didn’t get it either. Bummer but this was only round 2 for me. You guys that were at 6 will probably get in for sure in September! Good luck then, I’m sure we all exchange messages again.

I really get the frustration of having to wait so long. I wish they would increase the class size so it didn’t take 3-4 years to get started

I turned 40 a year ago ? so every year that passes makes me feel worse. I cannot believe I have been waiting for 3 years. I could already have completed the RN program and been working. I really regret applying to Butte.

hey is anyone still reading this? I applied for Spring 2021 as a first time applicant and I wanted to get into butte... is the lottery completely random or is there no chance of getting in?

@ari2020 The lottery is random but they pick from the 7 times plus applicants first, 6 times, etc.... so they told me on your first time trying they only choose 1 person and it’s about a 1 in 200 chance. So there is a chance but every application increases your chances.
