I've applied for spring 2011 and I'm anxiously waiting to hear something from BCC.! I have all my pre-reqs done. I'm currently working in a doctors office from 8-4. I'm wondering if I will I be able to work and do NS. My employer is willing to work with me. I'm not sure if my schedule will allow me to work for them? I don't need a job financially. I would just like to maintain a relationship in the local community to help me later on down the line.
The brochure doesn't really give me an idea of the schedule that we'll have...anybody have a clue?

Hi-I started @ BCC Spring 2010. Here is the schedule:
Mon: Lecture (Pemberton) 4pm-5:50pm
Tues: Lecture (Pemberton) 4pm-5:50pm
Wed: clinical either 4-10:30 or 4:30-11
Thurs: lab (Pemberton) 4-7
depending on your section your Wed & Thurs may be reversed
they are very strict with attendance, and late=absent. If you miss more than 4 lectures for the semester, or 2 clinicals or 2 labs, you fail the whole thing. I was lucky to not be working the first semester, which was good, because besides the time you spend in class, you will spend a lot of time reading and studying. Also, our exams were on Friday afternoons, about once a month, and you had to be there at 3pm.
Good luck, it is a great program. I think I got my acceptance letter sometime in Sept if I remember right.
Thanks so much for responding! I can confirm that you actually did get accepted in September last year! I was up google'ing "BCC Nursing School" late last night when I came across your thread. It was nice to see you all sharing info! I'm glad you came back to give me some insight.
IDK about working...sound like an intense program. Basically everyday...
I'm soooo glad you shared! Thanks

Hi,
I also started in Spring 2010. The schedule Pumpkin posted is correct.
You should be hearing something very soon whether you are accepted or not.
Can you work while going to school? Sure! Will it make your life crazy? Yep!
It can be done, though. Many others have done it; you can too.
I have no choice but to work full time while going to school (kids, hubby, and bills to pay!). When I am not working I am reading/studying/going to class, lab, or clinical. My family has been very supportive and I would not be able to do this without them.
Oh, and the passing score is 80. Anything less than that you are "unsuccessful" as Mrs. Apoh (NUR119 course leader) puts it.
Good luck! I hope you get the "Congratulations!" letter soon!
Thanks KCCC, I think I'll give it a try (working and going to school full-time). I guess I have to try my best not to let my job distract me from my ultimate goal of becoming a nurse. The 80% wouldn't normally bother me but it does now that I plan on working. No room for error. Thanks for the well wishes and I wish you the best next semester!!!

Hi Shannon-
I've applied for spring 2011 too and I currently work full time as well. Have you noticed on webadvisor if you are in aas.hsc health science program? It was never there for me before (it always had non-degree on it) up until this week, so I guess that's a good sign?? best of luck to you!!!
Crhoward,
OMG, I just signed in and I have never seen that before either. I see the same exact thing under my profile (Health Science, Undergraduate, AAS)! EXCITING!!!! Good luck to you too!!!!

Hey everyone! I am also applying for Spring 2011 and finished all of my prereqs including Micro and Lab in July. I am anxiously awaiting the acceptance letters. I am so nervous and hope that I get accepted! I also just signed into my webadvisor and saw the health science major under my profile. Good luck to you guys and I hope you keep in contact when you get your letters so I know when to expect one.

I was accepted into BCC's nursing program for Spring 2010 but declined cause I decided to go for my BSN so I wanted to give you guys a little insight to the web advisor confusion. The major you are seeing AAS.Health Science are for those who want to get into the nursing program. Once you are accepted it will change to Nursing. Prior to my acceptance I called Registration and they explained it to me so I thought I would share that info.
Thank you. I figured the program change was most likely due to applying for the program. Good luck with your BSN program!
Has anyone heard anything from BCC yet? I'm getting very anxious and hoping to hear sooner than later.
Nothing yet here, I'm hoping that we get something soon...I'll take anything at this point (hopefully an acceptance letter!!)
