Just got the quick results from my first attempt at NCLEX-RN this morning - the fact I'm calling it my first attempt should let you know how well that went. I'm mad at myself, because I know I have this in me and I was admittedly kind of lazy in prep this time. It didn't help that things in there honestly threw me for a loop - I've never seen some of that stuff before. This is also the first time I've done an exam like this one, and I'm really not sure what to make of things.

That being said, I want help. I clearly need to pull my socks up and learn how to take adaptive standardized tests, and study specifically for the NCLEX, but I have no idea where to start. The study style I used for school isn't helping. I need something else.

I cannot afford to take special prep courses or anything; the most I can do is probably another two books or so. I've got a pearson review/question book I had to buy for classes, and Lippincott's review/q&a (5000+ questions) books so far, alongside a copy of the 2009 Kaplan strategy guide a friend gave me. Based on that, are there any review books or question things I should try to grab? I'd prefer to stay under $50 a book if at all possible.

Thanks marcos. I'm trying to stay positive, but it's always hard when the wound is raw like this.

Persistence pays off when it comes to the NCLEX. You will pass if you don't give up.

Yes. That is a interesting thing to notice, how as you try to pass your level and ability to pay attention becomes greater so there are good things about not passing. I now know all lab values, tons of meds, and lots of other good things.

Do atleast 100-150 questions a day for 2-3 months.

Also practice questions from exam cram cd!!

Try not to add too many different sources..2-3 should be enough!! GOODLUCK

And sweetmya specifically, thank you - that might be just the resource I needed. I also grabbed a box of 1000 questions on cards from Saunders, a book on delegation/prioritization (because I feel really weak there) and a Kaplan test strategy book. Hopefully they and that link are enough!
