hi nurses! i am currently working on my bsn online. i have to write a paper about nurses in various roles. i am having a lot of difficulty getting this assignment done as the nurses who work in these specialized roles are extremely busy. if anyone out there can help that would be great! i need answers from a nurse educator and a nurse researcher (ie infection control, quality control, etc). thank you!!
1. discuss how you utilize and value the knowledge of other disciplines to solve patient care problems. what team members are you most often engaged with, and what is the unique expertise of each?
2. describe how you demonstrate appropriate team building and collaborative strategies when working with interprofessional teams.
3. how do you see care applied within your particular nursing practice situation?
4. describe the roles of different nurses (e.g., clinical nurse specialist, nurse executive, bedside nurse) in promoting safe and quality outcomes of care for diverse populations.
5. describe how you apply quality improvement processes to implement patient safety initiatives and monitor outcomes. how are nurse-sensitive indicators monitored in your institution?
6. describe how nurses facilitate patient-centered care in your institution and practice. how are patient-centered care and advocacy similar to and different from each other?
7. describe a situation in your practice in which you could see that the principles of ethics, professional nursing standards, altruism, and human dignity affected your nursing practice or a specific outcome
8. describe a patient care initiative in your organization that improved outcomes and enhanced cost effectiveness in care delivery
9. describe how nursing research has improved or changed a particular aspect of patient care in your institution. how is the research project different from quality improvement activities?
10. describe how information technology and patient data are used in your institution for ethical, effective clinical decision making and how patient confidentiality is protected.
11. describe a particular situation in which you have been involved with the roles and responsibilities of a major healthcare regulatory agency that affected patient care quality, workplace safety, healthcare reimbursement, or the scope of nursing practice.
12. compare nursing practice roles for the registered nurse, clinical nurse leader, advanced practice registered nurse, and clinical nurse specialist in your clinical setting. describe specific differences in their duties, knowledge, and abilities.

I work nocs, I treat my CNA's with respect, total and utter respect, yes I answer all lights, body alarms etc. If you treat you CNa's with respect in subacute, they are willing to help you in all way. When I ask them for somethign they do it because you get the respect you show. I don't work PT's, ST's, SSD, OT's etc, but when I was working AM's same thing respect. And I ask those disciplines questions loads and see if what I'm seeing is the same they are seeing.
Loads of questions so I thought I'd answer one :)

Looking at all your questions gives me a headache! Maybe you could interview one of those specialized RN's at your local hospital? Maybe go out for coffee after their shift ends. You'll never be able to do it during work because, as you already know, it's too busy.

WGU?
When I had that assingment, I tired on allnurses too, but ultimatley I had to make appointments with them, one I emailed her the questions and she emailed them back to me, but that assingment was a headace
Yes I am at WGU. This project is a little ridiculous. If it was easy to find nurses willing to be interviewed for an hour I would have gotten this paper done weeks ago.

I am not in one of these fields of nursing, but I would love to be interviewed for homework- I know other nurses that would love to help as well.
I do work in a teaching hospital and most of us who work there love teaching.
Maybe make it worth their while- offer lunch, coffee- or if they want to do a phone interview offer a gift card.
I think the assignment is great. I would love to get to know what other nurses do when not working in direct patient care- as I would like to work one of these roles in the future at some point.

Call your mentor.. I was told they have interview forms with answers for those who can not find someone easily...I found nurses but was told I was sweating the small stuff too much with that assignment..
Can not hurt to try?
question for you? Does it worry you that WGU gives no GPA just pass/fail and they consider pass is a "B".. This would matter if you were to ever want to go to grad school for MSN or NP etc.??? I had to drop out for family illness/death was in RN-MSN program. I like WGU and their concept but after I dropped I have never been able to speak to anyone ever again.. still think that is so weird....
Have just heard about Aspen University, it is even better price but do not get BSN along the way just MSN when finished.
I would be happy to answer interview questions but do not work in those specialties, sorry:)

Was just looking at their site. It appears they have listed themselves as CCNE accredited and as being nationally accredited but I do not see that they are regionally accredited...This means that it would be like going to ITT, Devry, etc, correct? Their site and offerings look interesting.
Does anyone have personal experience?

I am finishing up my 1st term with them, (just one more paper) and for me the pass/no pass did not matter, my ASN program was the same way pass/no pass, had to pass with a B.
Which has affected me getting jobs, as the pass/no pass in NS did not affect my GPA, did all my pre-reqs at a different college so my NS GPA is based on 3 classes that were letter grades, when I have applied to intership programs they want the GPA from where you completed NS which I have a 3.23 from those 3 classes, and the cut off for the internship is 3.25, missed if by .02 points, if my nursing classes were included it would be closer to a 3.9, but I digress
I don't plan on getting an NP, if I was to get my masters it would be in education, which I could do at WGU as well

I questioned that also on another thread and was promptly told they are regionally accredited now.. Maybe you should call to verify.:)
