i am going to start BCC Pines Center in August for my regs in nursing.
I was wondering if any one had any oppinions on which campus is the best for the nursing program itself. Ive heard many different oppinions and i just wanted to see.
thank!

The classes are challenging but managable. Are you attending north campus? If so, know everything that the process instructor says in class. Then, read the fundamentals and skills book to reiterate. You will encounter teachers who are quite negative. Just ignore them and do your best. Good luck!
I agree-- BCC is challenging, demanding, tough--------but if you go with an optimistic attitude, willing to put in hard working hours into your classes- you will be able to make it.
a lot of people fame BCC's RN's-- that they are very good.... and (me being one! LOL) I agree-- but it's because they treat us so bad in school that when we are out we feel like we have "peace":saint:
I'm starting at BCC North campus on August 08 and wanted to know if anyone can tell me about Clinical's......At what time we would start? Where would we meet? What to expect? Thanks
You'll start clinicals a few weeks into the program. You meet in the cafeteria of your assigned hospital. Initially, you'll be expected to perform basic am care (bath and make bed) and a health assessment. Clinicals for process I and II are on Tuesdays and Wed. from 6:30 am until 1 or 2 but most instructors leave a little early. After nursing process, clinicals can be 10 or 12 hours on either Tues, Wed, or Sat. Mrs. Brickman's website has everything you need to know for the first semester. It may have the summer calendar up now, but she'll probably undate it with fall info soon. Here's the link: http://webhome.broward.edu/~gbrickma/
Good Luck.
I am a recent graduate of BCC Nursing Program. It was very difficult to read such terrible but true things about the program. It is so unfortunate to be under such distress in a program that is meant to shape individuals who will be caring for others. I questioned my choice many times throughout the program. I am glad that my passion overcame the obstacles that I faced.
With that said, don't give up on your passion. :heartbeat

what you wrote could not be farther from the truth----- bcc was a difficult school like all nursing schools out there--- but if an rn is what you are meant to be and want to be then you can make it anywhere.
i am glad that you being a recent bcc grad, and me an old grad '07 can see the truth from the stories posted thru this forum--- so others can see we are not liars!!
i remember one nova student i met during my peds semester-- after i told her that i went to bcc she said "wow, you are gonna be so good, i hear if you make it thru that program you are really good"..... lol
CAN N E ONE HELP ME !!! what should i do b4 i start classes monday the 18th? what about this math test :eek:i herd students had to take the first week ??!?!?1:banghead:
If you are just entering process I, you take a math course than take the test. You'll take it the first week starting in process II. It's tough to say what you should do before starting. You may want to start reading to have a head start. Or you may want to relax and enjoy the freedom of not having to study yet. Just know that the first test in process I covers about 900 pages of text from the fundamentals and skills books.

The math course is either 4 or 6 weeks long. I think it is 4 weeks of instruction, once a week. Then, during week 5 you take a test. If you fail, you do a retake during week 6. The math covered is mostly basic proportions, maybe 6th or 7th grade level. However, people who struggle with math may have to put forth a little effort to pass, but it's definately attainable for everyone. There are 2 instructors for the math course. I recommend Gregg Brickman. She is also the Process Instructor.
