Broward Community College Students

Published

Hello,

I am starting the RN program on Monday, 08/20/07. I am wondering if there are any other students here who are attending or have attended. I am interested in some guidance and a study group. I live in Sunrise and go to the Central Campus in Davie.

Please PM me for my email.

thanks.

sunraygurl - omg that's long! do you know if students are allow to take 15 credits per term instead of 10??? i'm also applying at mdc accelerated program and they allow student to take up to seven classes the first term and then 6... but i dont want to be driving south... so i hope they allow students to register for 15 credits... specially to those holding a higher degree than a.s. i dont know what to do!! lol oh by the way i hope you register for august, like me! lol do you know what campus are you going to be choosing?

oh is it true that north campus is the best campus for nursing? i been reading and most of the people mentioned that it is....

i read you bought the books already. Do they use the same book for the different terms?

I am pretty certain you cannot take more credits, but maybe Leavingteaching can answer that one. The program is a rigorous one as it is, so to take more credits would be very difficult.

I will be going to North Campus. From what I've heard, too, its the best, but I actually have no idea WHY its considered better than Central or South. I'm not sure if its the class size, or the professors, or if you learn better there, or maybe North has a higher NCLEX passing rate. I have no idea.

I live in north west Broward, so it makes more sense for me to go to North anyhow. I would consider going to Central if I had heard good things about it, but South is just too far for me.

I just bought the Fundamentals book. The other book-can't think of the name right now....Clinical skills or something- I ordered it and it never came. I don't know if it got lost at my in laws house at Christmas time with all the other packages coming, or if it got lost in the mail. I haven't started reading the Fundamentals book yet.

I just bought the edition before the one they use currently. I will probably buy another if they move up an edition by the time I am in; I don't want to be more than one edition behind. But I heard its pretty similar to the current edition, so there shouldn't be a problem to use it.

what have you heard about south campus? that the closest to me

what are names of the text you bought & the one currently being use by the nursing school?

As far as the text, I don't know what South and Central campuses use. They may or may not use the same books. From the looks of it according to the South campus book list, it seems South does, I am just not 100% sure. Central it looks like they don't, but again, not certain on that. At north, the two main books for Nursing process are Fundamentals of Nursing (Perry and Potter) and Clinical Nursing Skills and Techniques (Perry and Potter).

I haven't heard anything in particular about South, just heard that North is the best out of the three.

You can only take 10 nursing credits per semester. It doesn't sound like alot but trust me, it's insane!

do you know if people in the program work? and if they do what kind of job? how is the schedule? Like all day MW or half day TR or 4 hours MTWR? lol

The schedule during the first semester is as follows:

MF lecture from 9-12

TW clinical 6-2 or campus lab 7-3

R or F Math

Most of your time is spent studying and reading. Some people work in the program, but it's very difficult.

ooh ok, thanks for the information. what campus do you attend? do you know anything about the south campus? i heard the north is the best from the 3.
