Hello,
I am starting the RN program on Monday, 08/20/07. I am wondering if there are any other students here who are attending or have attended. I am interested in some guidance and a study group. I live in Sunrise and go to the Central Campus in Davie.
Please PM me for my email.
thanks.
sunray, where did you get your books from? do you mind post the name of the lecture book too. thank you
I got them from half.com. The one book was Fundamentals of Nursing. They use 7th edition, but I ordered 6th because its cheaper.

I also got the Clinical Nursing Skills and Techniques 5th edition instead of 6th, which is the edition they are using now as well.
i am getting reading to replace my watch for the holidays, since im starting school i would like to get the watch that is good for clincals. i read somewhere that is has to be special watch or something like that.
can any nursing student tell me what kind of watch will be suitable for clincals? can it be digital with a stop clock device?
leavingteaching, so they are not picky has to what watch you wear?did you say it HAS to have a second hand?
No, they're not too picky about what type of supplies you have just that you have them. The watch has to have a second hand. It's a little difficult to take vitals (radial and apical pulse rates & respirations) without a second hand. I didn't spend a lot on my clinical supplies b/c things sometimes come up missing. I use a $10 watch from walmart, $15 stethoscope from the bookstore, a pen light and pocket protector from the book store, a sharpie, black pens, and a clip board with a calculator and storage compartment (calculator broke right away).
leavingteaching, how is school going so far? what semester are you in now>? i know you must be excited your almost thru. any advice for me as a future student to the north campus? thank you
School is going well for me. I'm about half way thru, graduating in August. When you enter the program, simply do what you're told. If the instructor says read the book, study a handout, or jump up and down, just do it. Use all available resources. Complete the computer program with test taking tips that's available in the lab, use the lab to practice skills, and visit a tutor if you have questions. Reading ahead is a good idea, but if you can practice critical thinking questions that's probably even more helpful.
