Just wondering if anybody applied for Jan full time RN? If so what points did you receive? I got 14 total points, hopefully it's enough to get me in
Silent-
I live out in Coral Springs, too....so I go to North. I did take A&P2 lecture downtown (took *******, who is awesome but usually filled up within the first week of registration). I took ******* for A&P1 and 2 labs. I loved him. I thought he wasn't hard and that he gave us more information than a lot of my peers said their lab professors gave them. Did you take him for A&P1? I'm not sure how his lecture class will be but I thought he was a good professor for lab.
Back to Mirco- the Tuesday before the midterm I went home with a very bad headache, which later that night turned into a fever. I ended up being pretty sick the WHOLE week in bed, which is A LOT for me. I can't even remember the last time I was in bed for 10 days let alone 3. i had these horrible chills and sweats, a terrible cough, a headache that NEVER went away the entire time I was sick, body aches...the whole 9 yards. I emailed ********** to find out if I could do a make up or something because I didn't think I would be there, and never heard a word. So, the Tuesday of the midterm I went in, against my family's advice because I didn't want to end up with a 0 for the test. Anyway, I didn't study for it at all even though I tried, I just felt so awful I wasn't able to. I took the test and left and went back to the doctor (which ended up I found out later that day after I had a chest xray that I had pneumonia!!) Came back in on Thursday and saw I had a C. I figured it was because I didn't study. But then, I found out the highest grade in the class was a low B, and all the other A/B students had B/C/D's. So we all kept talking about it and he said he would bring the tests in with him on Tuesday for us to look over. When he came in on Tuesday, he told us he had regraded them and I was very pleased to see my grade went up to an A. Phew! All the other A/B students grades went up, too.
That was the only thing about ****, was that I had to go in and check EVERY test with him because there was always something wrong with the grading. I got a 40 on a quiz and found out he used the wrong scantron, and ended up with a 53. I checked everything. I saw my semester grades online, but I would still like to know my test grades for the final. Oh well.
May is actually easier to get into.....or at least it was this May. The cutoff for August was about 8-9 pts, which is safe to say its around a 3.2-3.3 gpa since most people do NOT have the HOSA points. For May, people got in with 2.9. A lot of people either don't apply because they know it will be more challenging or they apply, get accepted and defer to August, which makes room for more people to get in.
Thats the best news I've heard all day. I was fretting about needing straight A's in APII and CHM this semester in the hopes it would bring me up to a 3.3-3.4ish so i'd have a chance. I didn't realize there was such a drastic difference in admissions between the sessions.
That's horrible that you came down sick at such a critical time. You must be some kind of brainchild to have pulled off an A even despite the fact. I remember that being one of the rougher tests in the course. Anyways, congratulations on getting through it. If the morning class was anything like the evening class, you must be overjoyed in putting it behind you.
Oh E.coli...I won't miss you at all.
E. Coli was my unknown, lol.
And I am FAR from being a brainchild. I don't really remember if I thought that test was hard or not....it was pretty much a blur. Maybe I did better being sick than I would have if I were not, lol. All I know is that once Khan was gone, I got grades on quizzes I had never received on any test in college. Ever. But, I ended up with B's in both classes in the end, so I should be thankful.
I really did find Micro interesting and I would have loved to see the information Khan would have presented during chapters 12-15 and especially 16, 17 and 20. I thought the last three chapters WOULD have been very interesting ones had I actually learned anything from them.
I know exactly what you mean. When I signed up, It was just a course I wanted to get out of the way. But **** actually made it interesting enough that it made you want to learn. Every time you asked ********** a question beyond what he was saying at that particular moment, he just told you not to worry about it. It was so disspiriting.
Yeah, I know Micro doesn't count. I was originally planning to transfer to FAU for a BSN, and the requirements are frustratingly different. Its given me no end of trouble.

Its called HESI and there are about 9 components, but they only really look at 4 (although they couldn't remember the 4 components). They make you take all 9, however, because in case the student applies to other schools that also require the HESI test, then you have all the components completed. When I went in November, they said they would begin using the test for the Jan 2010 class. When I went in March, they said they would then be using the test for the August 2010 class. I have no idea if they are still planning for August 2010 or for another class at this point. I do not see anything mentioned on the nursing admission web page about the HESI test, so my guess is its not going to be used until after Aug 2010. Also, at the time, they said it was going to be used as a pass/fail type thing, where you had to get over an 85% (or whatever it was, I can't remember the exact number now), and either you got that or you didn't. No points would be awarded, you just couldn't be considered if you didn't pass. Again, I have no idea what the plans are now.....whether or not they are the same or have changed, but just thought I would let you know what I was told.
A good idea would be to attend one of these information sessions. I don't know how to find out when they other than signs that might be posted in the advisement department (thats how I found out about the ones I went to). They never put this info up on the web or anything. I would keep checking in advisement because there is probably one coming up in October/November-ish. I think they do this right around the time they start taking applications.

Thank You so much for that info....so that 1st semester is going to be crazy hard.
Thats what it's looking like. Can anyone reccomend some material to be reviewing in advance to take some of the edge off? I'm going to have the winter semester free of classes, so I'd like to get something of a head start on the material so I'm not completely lost on the first day.
