Broward College RN Program Winter Jan 2010

Published

Just wondering if anybody applied for Jan full time RN? If so what points did you receive? I got 14 total points, hopefully it's enough to get me in :confused:

Enc 1101 B

Chemistry A

Anatomy I lecture A

Anatomy I lab A

Anatomy II lecture B

Anatomy II lab A

so youe GPA is 3.57= 11 points

broward resident= 1point

so 12 points is correct...thats really good you should get in :yeah:

you can calculate your GPA at http://www.back2college.com/gpa.htm

12 is correct.

ENC= 3 (grade) x 3 (credit hours) = 9

CHEM= 4 x 3 = 12

AP1= 4 x 3 = 12

AP1L= 4 x 1 = 4

AP2= 3 x 3 = 9

AP2L= 4 x 1 = 4

Add all those numbers together, you get 50. Divide that by the total number of credit hours for thos pre-reqs, which is 14, and you get 3.57. They do NOT round up, so you get 11 points for having a 3.5, plus the 1 pt for being a Broward resident. You should be fine with 12 pts. They accepted those with 8 for Aug.

Thank you! I actually spoke to someone in admissions this morning before I read this. I didn't realize they calculated it that way. I thought I just averaged it all together. I was figuring it out wrong.

Thank you both for your help. I hope I get in with 12.:D

Yeah I thought that way, too at first.

I called admissions and they said 13 points is pretty good...I am also applying with around 13 points..how about the extra points you get for getting all certifications???

so, i dont have to actually wait to apply till i take hcp0130???? Its the only class im missing and cause of it i cant aaply before september 15.

Hi there! im applying for the May 2010 class at bbc with around 13 points...do i have good chances?? i read somewhere in this forum the cut-off gpa at miami dade college was 3.8..what about bbc???

Have you taken the health core class for MDC? If it was a 75 hr course, then it will probably transfer over and you will be waived from having to take BC's HCP0130 course.

The course must be complete before you can apply. If you can't take the course until after Sept 15, unfortunately you will have to apply for May.

13 pts is considered good. The cutoff for Aug was around 8-9 pts. People with 8-9 pts were put on the list as alternates, but all the alternates were told at orientation they'd be in (and they are as I have a friend who was an alternate). So I wouldn't worry about having 13 pts and not getting in. When I went to a pre-nursing info session, I was talking about what my Gpa would be after that semester and was told there wouldn't be any problems with me getting in, and they were right. I had 12 pts.

Good luck

its a shame i have to wait practically another year to apply...Ill try getting micro and pharm out of the way..does anyone have info on the program? from what i've been hearing,its supposed to be incredibly tough..i should probably start studying now...lol..im actually thinking about taking a student loan and focusing on school

im also applying for the May group...i imagine its a little fast-paced, like all summer classes ..you work part-time??? i am thinking about working on weekends only..

No I don't work, but I do have two kids and am a stay-at-home-mom. I have a 3 yr old and an almost 7 yr old.

there aren't any extra point for the certificates. it's a requirement. so, everyone has them. the certificates have to stay updated throughout the program or you'll get pulled from clinicals.
