Broward College RN Program May 2010

Has anyone turned in their application yet?! Btw, I heard that Central campus might NOT have a May class :sniff:

Does anyone know if you are able to apply at all Broward locations for the Nursing program? I know with Palm Beach you can only apply for one location.

You put in one application and when you are accepted, you will choose which campus you want to attend when you register for your classes.

Hi,

I submitted my application on 01/14/09 and paid my application fee yet I still do not have any points on display. My status is applied, I would think by now something would have changed, just feeling a little freaked out. Does any one know what was the cut off on points for last semester someone once told me 7 but I kinda find that hard to believe.

I know for a fact that last May's cut off was 6 points. There were a large number of alternates that semester. I always say May is the easiest class to get into prob because students who want to attend South campus can't because I don't think there is a May class at South so many defer to August.

I remember waiting and waiting to see if I got in! THE AGONY!!! Hang in there guys. If it's meant for you, you'll get in!

Thanks shescoolie, I was afraid i wouldn't make the cut, but i was told that summer was the easiest to get in. I have 8 points, so hopefully that's good enough. I was told the cut off for summer was a 2.9 gpa, so we'll see how it works out this summer

Are they still doing deferment?

So how long did it take before you knew you were accepted? If you are chosen as an alternate how long before you know if you did get in?

Someone mentioned the changes to HOSA? what are the changes? i think u had to have graduated HS with HOSA within 2 years has that changed?

they told me that it changed to 10 years

oh ok. So if they had a lot of HOSA graduates within the past 10 years it may affect applicants.

My friend was an alternate and when we went to the orientation meeting, which happens after you're accepted/told your an alternate, they told all the alternates they were pretty much in and they all ended up in.

So if they say we should know within 30 days they do not give an answer any sooner? And once they do give an answer when is the orientation held?

I am in the process of signing up for a repeat class to replace a grade and they have a class that starts March 16th.....so if I don't make the cut, I want to take the class and apply for the May deadline....thats why I'm looking for more specifics! Oh! and the cost is $2000....so I'm trying not to spend the money unless i need to!

I would also like to say that I am very disappointed in the fact that the drop out rate is 50% of those who do get accepted, as it is a waste of my time waiting to get into the program, a serious, experienced "paramedic" who is already working hard in the field.

I have a feeling that is because those (realtors, business majors and the like before the recession) decided that they all wanted to become nurses and took easy A&P classes to be given an easy "A".....and those of us that are already in the field working because we love it...get pushed out by those with HOSA and easy A's.

I am taking a Micro class right now where the teacher stated all you have to do is come to class to get an A! I busted my #@* in my other classes to get a "B" and here we have students lined up out the door to get an easy A!

And to add insult they can't cut the mustard in the RN program...because they didn't learn the fundamentals! Hence the dropout rate!

I'm just venting here...sorry If I offended anyone!
