Broward College RN Program Fall 2010

Published

Hello. Has anyone attending Broward College applied for the fall 2010 rn program as of yet??:thankya:

Yeah i thought about that, but I assume that they probably will give a response sooner than 30 days. At least I hope, because I am applying to another program and need to know where I will end up sooner than Aug 2nd.....I have to pay a deposit to hold my seat in the other program and would hate to loose money because BC is my first choice.....

yeah i hope they respond sooner than 30 days as well..... the school with the deposit.. is that nova u are referring to?

Yeah, I put in an application for Fall and waiting to take the HESI to put in for BC for Fall.

oh yeah i was looking into goin to nova... but their tuition is so pricey n i wouldnt want to take out any student loans if i dont have to. i think i mite just go to nova for the rn-bsn program. its cheaper than the entry level program.. and at least i would already be licensed if i complete bc's program... hm decisions decisions

yeah its so many decisions to make and all the schools are just making it more complicated to get in. I just read on another thread that Nova is now basing their admission solely on GPA and that they are soon going to introduce a TEAS test for entry....yeah they are expensive but i was trying for their scholarship with a hospital if not i cant go because I dont want the loans either...so thats why BC is my 1st choice.........and Nova is a back-up

oh wow.. i did not kno they will be using the TEAS test soon, that just makes it even more difficult to get in. i was told all u have to do is have the minimum to get into nova and that they dont compare gpa's.. u just have to meet the requirements and go to some interview... but my source wasnt too reliable anyway. i heard about that scholarship as well... but the only thing throwing me off is that you have to sign a contract to work with that baptist hospital in miami for 3 years after u finish the program. i dont want to sign any contract and then end up changing my mind wen i finish nursing school u kno.. i want to have a choice of where i want to work.. and having to stay somewhere that u dnt want to be for 3 years is a really long time if u think about it.

Hey guys,

I just wanted you to know that Nova doesn't have interviews any more as of this semester, and they are strictly based on GPA and unlike Broward, you need Micro before you can enter their program. I actually applied to both so I know...and Nova is sooo behind on applications that we don't know when they are going to get to all the applications.

wow that makes me nervous that you didnt get in for may with a 3.35. I have a 3.4 and im trying to get in for august. maybe they dont accept as many students for the summer term. I dont have a backup school either...

no more interviews? great.. less worries.

Question: if i didnt take all of the required prereqs for nova's program.. could i still apply and take the 2 classes i didnt take yet while im in the program.. or must they absolutely be completed before u apply? because i want to apply to nova also as a plan b but im not going to be finished with my prereqs by may 1 and that is the deadline.

dcaradon... only ppl with 12 pts or above got in to may's program. they only had 90 seats available for that semester with 700 somethin applicants. i know this because my brother applied to that semester n he got the rejection email where they tell u how many people that applied, etc. August will be easier to get into... being that there's 3 campuses admitting as opposed to one in may and 3 times as many seats.

yeah thats true about the scholarship, but my very good friend did the baptist program when MDC had it and she is doing great...i hear so many good things about baptist that i was telling myself that i want to work at this hospital especially as a new nurse....oh and btw Nova is not doing the interviews anymore, thats new for this Fall class they are only looking at GPA and how many times a person drops or fails classes......but the only reason I would take the baptist program is because you are guaranteed a job at the end....because for some students who did not take the offer that was in my friends class, they still cant get hired as a new nurse....and my friend has been working for like 9 mos now i think....im just trying not to put all my eggs in one basket

oh on the nova application it says you can apply while you are doing pre-reqs...thats what im doing because i still have to take that human growth class which im taking in the summer. the lady at Nova said that once the additional pre-req is complete (and if ur accepted) then just forward the updated transcript to them. They have to make sure all required pre-reqs are done before u start the nursing program though. and she said that their fafsa deadline is april 15th...i dont know if it makes much of a difference but i did mine on the 15th so......

I applied to BC for May and didn't get in...Then I decided to take my luck with Nova. Your pre-reqs don't need to be done to apply, but they need to be done by August. Even though the advisor for entry level nursing explained to me that the people who apply and have all their pre-reqs done get first preference. So I am taking micro now, so I don't get first preference, but he explained to me that they move the application over to the next semester and you don't have to resubmit or pay again which is great. I am hoping I get in the first time, but it's good to know.
