Hello. Has anyone attending Broward College applied for the fall 2010 rn program as of yet??:thankya:
did u guys hear that the only way you can retake a class and have it count is if u go to a private college. i saw a general advisor and she told me that. i have an appointment with a nursing advisor this thursday and im going verify whether or not that is true. i was going to retake a class so that i have higher gpa than a 3.4 but wow private schools are expensive. i hope my gpa is good enough
What class are u trying to retake? And what is your current grade in that class? Because i also went to see a general advisor this past week, and she told me the only grade that was interfering with my gpa (giving me a 3.07) was the CHM 1032 course that i received a C in. She told me the only way i can retake the course is at Keiser U. or some other private institute that offers the course.. but im sure the cost of one course is up there like in the hundreds maybe even a thousand---> dont think its worth it. BC doesnt allow retakes of C grades or above, which i already knew. However.. i brought up the suggestion to my advisor of taking a higher level or different chemistry course, such as CHM 1040, CHM 1045, etc. and she said that she hadnt thought of that and that it was a good idea. She said if i took one of those courses it would override my C in CHM 1032 and i could put that course on my application if i were to apply again in the future.. which i mite hav to do anyway cuz im nt sure if im getting in with the 3.0 that i hav .... but dcaradon, with a 3.4 i dnt think u need to retake any courses. my advisor said that u would need between a 3.2-3.4 to guarantee admission for august. but she was basing this on past applicant pools.. so im sure u have nothing to worry about. your only concern should be passing your hesi. have u taken it yet, by the way?
I took the Hesi almost 2 weeks ago and we were not allowed to use a calculator for the math section. Only a dry erase board. I was so nervous and could not sleep at all the night before, but I ended up doing really well. As long as you study you will find that it is really not that bad. I really only studied the A & P portion and got 2 questions wrong. (I am in A&P 2 right now so I was learning some of the material for the first time!) The questions were pretty random so make sure to review all of the organ systems prior to taking the test. I read each section in the study guide and then followed that up by studying our text for lecture . I thought the English sections were a breeze. I am planning on submitting my application as soon as grades for this semester are posted. Depending on my A&P 2 grades I should have a 3.4-3.5 GPA so I hope that is good enough to get in! Good luck to everyone else!
they probably extended the deadline because a lot of students did not know about the new hesi test. so i am guessing that they wanted to make sure they can fill all the classes without having to turn down a lot of students' applications for not having the hesi scores.wow i just checked the site n it does say that i didnt even realize... but i agree with u, i think the hesi requirement is the reason for the extension. but if the deadline is july 2nd, and they let u know their decision 30 days after.. august 2? isnt that too late notice for the ppl who get admitted or even the people who dont get admitted who are waiting for a response??? i mean u get a response of acceptance or denial in the same exact month ur expecting start.. thats ridiculous

well idk.. maybe u can use the computer calculator, i never asked. but im sure they would have informed me of that prior to starting the test if the calculator was allowed. all i was given was a dry erase board to work out the problems.
&& besides, it wouldnt make sense to give basic addition and subtraction problems on a test if their just going to give you a calculator.. because the whole point is basically for them to see if you know how to add/subtract and solve basic math problems... allowing a calculator makes it too easy.
