Broward College Nursing Program August 2016

U.S.A. Florida

Updated:   Published

Hello!

I just wanted to make a thread for nursing program at BC for this coming Fall semester.

I passed the Hesi last week after 4 days of studying. (Got tired of studying the Elvesier book so I took my chances)

My overall score: 85%. My lowest score's reading: 78% ( English is my second language and I took this section last so didn't have enough time to really read the questions)

I turned in my application last Wednesday. The lady said to look for an email around May- June.

Anyone is applying for Fall? Did your status on myBC change yet?

Send me your email and I'll send you a pic when I get home.

Hello! Future August 2016 hopeful here too! I was trying to apply for the May term coming up now but I believe I'm a little late for it! I have a 3.0 gpa overall including the pre req is also a 3.0 I took the HESI already but unfortunately have to retake the A&P portion again (scored a 72% bummer) my other scores included 80% reading, 80% grammar 90% math and 76% vocabulary. Might retake the vocab again since I'm already there to see if i can boost it up lol I hope I get accepted since my gpa is not as great as others!!

So you recommend buying the scrubs and getting them embroidered separately? What rules do they have for shoes? All white? Can I wear white nike sneakers? They do have some slight gray marking, would it be a problem?

Yes. ..that's for north. Not south! South you must buy the ones in the bookstore. I think some people had nurse mates, I had dansko. Just all white is fine. I bought the cuff on amazon really cheap. ...and the stethoscope online. It had free engraving and you can find online coupons. I think maybe as allheart? I don't remember

I plan on attending Central Campus. I had class there earlier this week and noticed everyone wearing white sneakers with no logo so I assume it applies for us also. Thank you HammockBound. I wonder if central requires bookstore scrubs or if I can buy my own and get them embroidered. I work for a hospital so I get a discount but that means buying my scrubs before I quit my job. I don't want to invest in buying scrubs I may not need. :bored:

I don't believe they are as strict at central so you should be fine. ;) I would check last semesters posts.

I got the fundamentals of nursing by Potter and Perry, 8th edition. Could you please tell me which chapter should I read for nursing process 1&2?

Read vitals and health assessment to get started. Perry and potter, the clinical book, davis drug guide, cox, pagana, jarvis (you will use the a lot for return demo) rn notes (quick ref when you go to the hospital but you can wait on this until the end of process one) these are the ones you should buy. Go on amazon. Make sure you get the editions they want. These books you will use throughout. Perry and potter you don't use after process but you will want them as a reference if you need it. The others you use for your careplans. You need these bc the teachers will go back and check your rationale on the pages you listed so they have to be the edition they want. Also buy a careplan book and the fundamentals success book bc it has practice questions like the ones on the tests and I can tell you it helped alot. The pharm don't waste your money he only tests from the powerpoint. The math you don't use after you pass so I only rented it.

Hi everyone! Haven't been on here in awhile. Any tips on the HESI?? I think I might take mine next week I'm gonna study on our spring break..also as far as responses go for when we get in I spoke to an advisor a few weeks ago and she said we should know an answer by middle of June [emoji86] I don't get to apply till the beginning of May so I wanna make sure I have everything done before so I can just submit my application and then patiently wait for a response! I'm getting anxious it's already March !! And @melissah416 I am planning for broward central campus, what about you?
