Broward College Nursing Program August 2016

Updated:   Published

Hello!

I just wanted to make a thread for nursing program at BC for this coming Fall semester.

I passed the Hesi last week after 4 days of studying. (Got tired of studying the Elvesier book so I took my chances)

My overall score: 85%. My lowest score's reading: 78% ( English is my second language and I took this section last so didn't have enough time to really read the questions)

I turned in my application last Wednesday. The lady said to look for an email around May- June.

Anyone is applying for Fall? Did your status on myBC change yet?

Is it true that the way they calculate your GPA is only according to the pre-req courses? I'm trying to calculate my GPA. So they are essentially only looking at 10-12 possible courses? 12 if you have already completed Microbiology and the lab.

I thought it was only English, anatomy 1 & 2 with lab and college level math ??

I'm not sure at all lol !!

hi so i applied in march and a, waiting myself for a result. now my only concern is gpa and what courses they take into accountability. when i left my prior school my gpa was 2.82, and bc accum is 2.49 and now im freaking out because you need a 2.5. i passed my hesi with flying colors, over the 83 percent tile.

my gpa is not as high as most of you so im worried about it.

my question is how do you calculate the points you are referring to, and should i be worried about my gpa

i even spoke to a nursing adviser before i applied and i told her my grades based off the classes she said are important and she said i should have no problem, but the gpa thing is stressing me out.

so if i got:

B in a&p1 and lab

c in a&p2 and lab

english: C

micro and lab: C

college alegbra: A

so what is it calculated?

answers please lol

The only courses that they will be looking at is a&p 1and 2 with lab, and English. With those classes you have to have a 2.5 gpa to be considered for the program

so how do i calculate my grades to tell

i also heard college math was a requirement also along with micro

The way they do it is like this for example I had an A in enc1101 that's 4 points a A in anatomy 1 a C in lab thats 2 points and a B in anatomy 2 that's 3 points and a C in lab 2. If you add up those 5 grades it's 15 points divide it by the number of classes which is 5 it turns into a 3.0 that's how u get awarded the points for the pre reqs

They are a requirement but not calculated with the classes needed to apply for the program. Usually before you apply they check your gpa . At least they did for me.

so how do i calculate my grades to tell

i also heard college math was a requirement also along with micro

so that means my gpa is enough?

i told her my grades and she said im fine i guess the overall gpa through me off

she went through my transcripts with me there and said i was good to go so maybe i am fine

online it just has that x where gpa is

i could have sworn the prereq was a&p1 and 2

college math

english

micro

and if thats the case i have the correct gpa

Micro is not a requirement to apply it's good if u have done it already but not required for the program

so with my grades for the class they look at, hows my gpa?

so if i got:

B in a&p1 and lab

c in a&p2 and lab

english: C
