Broward College Nursing Program August 2016

Updated:   Published

Hello!

I just wanted to make a thread for nursing program at BC for this coming Fall semester.

I passed the Hesi last week after 4 days of studying. (Got tired of studying the Elvesier book so I took my chances)

My overall score: 85%. My lowest score's reading: 78% ( English is my second language and I took this section last so didn't have enough time to really read the questions)

I turned in my application last Wednesday. The lady said to look for an email around May- June.

Anyone is applying for Fall? Did your status on myBC change yet?

The HESI is only used as a tie breaker for GPA. They start filling seats from highest GPA and so on and if there are ties they'll refer to the HESI. But I know people with 2.6 GPA still have gotten in.

Yeah I have a 2.88 so I'm hoping and praying

Im taking it this summer too! What's your schedule??

I have it Monday's and Wednesday's at 11 am then the lab Monday's and Wednesday's at 1 pm. You?

Exactly how did you calculate your gpa. Because the way I did it is if you have a 3.0 you get 6 points but someone in the May semester had a 3.0 and they got rewarded 9 points. Am I doing it wrong?

You will only have the GPA from Eng, AP I, and AP II considered.

GPA points start at 16 for a 4.0 and continue as followed:

4.0- 16pts

3.9- 15pts

3.8 - 14pts

3.7- 13pts

3.6- 12pts

3.5- 11pts

3.4- 10pts

3.3- 9pts

3.2- 8pts

3.1- 7pts

3.0- 6pts

2.9- 5pts

For the May 16 class, gpa's of 4.0-3.0 which was 16pts-6pts, were accepted. Anyone with a 2.9, which was 5 pts, were alternates.

They go off your GPA, and when there are applicants with the same lower gpa, than they looked at your HESI scores to determine who would get in. Higher HESI scores were accepted.

So yes if you have a lower GPA make sure your scores are excellent. Your scores DO count.

So I should take the HESI again then ??

I don't know what your scores are, but if they are close to the cut off I would say yes.

Hey guys, I'm new to the thread.

Does anyone know when is the deadline for applications? I thought it was the 15th and now I'm hearing the 20th. All my pre-reqs are done and I'm taking my Hesi this week. I'm crossing my fingers to get into the August program.

When I called central and south today they said May 20.

I have it Monday's and Wednesday's at 11 am then the lab Monday's and Wednesday's at 1 pm. You?

Where? The only options available to me were M-TH 10:30am

That's how I'm calculating it but someone in your class said they had a 3.0 gpa but got awarded 9 points....shouldn't it be 6 points?

My best friend who also applied for August got award 9 points and his GPA is 3.3 so the list wannabeny provided is correct. Mine also updated correctly.
