Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!

Hello Dipp14- I'm an oldie, so this is a second career for me! I have been out of Uni for a while now so this is the second time around for me. I have already done all my prereqs and applied for the May term. Hopefully, we should hear something soon. Me, my daughter and our dog moved back here last April from Newcastle. I am currently in Florida (Pembroke Pines), but I'm a dual national so spent an equal amount of time in both places. Born in London, lived in Glasgow, London and Newcastle upon Tyne. How about you? Where will you be moving to once you are here? I hope the visa process goes smooth for you, don't know too much about it, but if there's anything I can help you with- just ask!:) DM me if you want and I'll give you my email if you'd like. What semester are you planning to apply for?

Thanks everyone, really lovely to have some moral support and encouragement! :) I'm still in England, hoping to receive the paperwork in the near future so that I can start the visa process! I'm dreading it to be honest, I just hope its not too time consuming. @LondonFog, are you already in Florida or are you applying for your first year at college? Didn't expect to meet a fellow Brit lol! Where are you from?

I'm glad it got sorted dolfanjenny- that would be enough to throw me in a panic! :) Okay, so I was going through last years May thread and it seems like the applicants weren't notified until the third week of March! It seems like they all got in though and once they received their letters, some of them seemed even more anxious! Goodness this process takes a toll on one's emotions huh? I just hope ours isn't going to take that long...oh gosh that would be torture!

Hi Londonfog thx for the info. Glass half full! I will just keep myself busy until then and yes I was able to sort out my email issue IT fixed it for me it was some type of glitch!

Yeah I know what you mean! Torture! I read through that thread too they were all so anxious but I don't blame them. They found out so late that they didn't have a lot of time left over to do all the testing and stuff. That's why I'm suggesting to everyone to try and get some of it done ahead of time. I'm gonna work on my certificates and reading and tetorifice shot, u know the stuff that u can get done now. I already did my immunization titers. Oh also I need to renew my CPR cause it expires in June. Good luck everyone! Stay busy ;)

Thats great, never too old to learn more and gain experiences! This will also be my second degree as I did a bachelors in Southampton, graduating 2011. I live in Dorset, not too far from Bournemouth and I'm hoping to live in Hollywood/Pembroke Pines area once I get over there. I have soooo much to sort out, its crazy! haha.

I'm unsure how the pre-reqs work as I havent been told anything about needing to do them before I start? :/ Do you know how international students might go about that, and if I'll need to? Broward have received all my paperwork which was the requirement for starting in the May semester. Fingers crossed I can arrange immigration, flights etc before then! Things are starting to become real :D

dolfanjenny- you one wise woman! :) When I spoke to Nicole about this back in December, she said to wait and I listened, but I agree- we'll all be cramming for this come March. I should really get a move on too. I downloaded the copy of the book and have been browsing through it for now, but I will order the ones you told me about this week. I think the reason Nicole told me to wait is because some of them are valid for only 2 years, but I think I'll start organizing this. Thanks for all the advice. Best of luck everyone and have a great long weekend :)

Assuming you've been here, Pembroke Pines is a nice area and I personally like the Central Campus for BC in Davie. I'm sure you already know the transport system here is drastically different than England, so be prepared. If you plan to live in Hollywood/PPines- you will need a car/ride as the buses here are not practical. I believe everyone entering the ASN program at BC does have to complete the prerequisites, even international students. (Correct me if I'm wrong here guys) Dipp we all came from varied educational backgrounds, but had to complete our prerequisites prior to applying to the nursing program. We completed Anatomy & Physiology I & II both with labs and English, Health Core Class (exempt if you worked in healthcare); we will also need to complete prior to graduation from the ASN program, Microbiology lecture with lab (Chemistry is required prior to registering for this course). We all then took the HESI A2 exam and submitted our applications into the Health Sciences Dept. for consideration.

You said that BC have all your paperwork- was this paperwork for the Nursing Program at BC or for entrance into Broward College? You may have already met all the prerequisites for the course due to your degree (I'm not sure). I would email the Health Sciences Department (Advisors) and double check with them- for your own peace of mind. I'll add the Health Sciences page link below from the website so you know what I mean. BC select nursing students three times a year on the same schedule as regular semesters throughout the year (Jan, May, Aug). Have BC already provided you with your student number? It will begin with the letter S and 8 numbers.

Look, whatever happens know that you are taking an amazing step toward your future. Don't get caught up in little hiccups and remain focused on the big picture- you've come this far. Fingers crossed for all your immigration/visa stuff. We're all rooting for you :) P.S. - It's about 18 degrees here with beautiful sunshine so, hurry up and I'll put the kettle on :)

Hi Dipp14- Found another link on the BC website that might be helpful for you. It's for International Students and has information on the Health Science Program. Hope it helps :)

Hey Londonfog! I know what u mean when I went to see an advisor they told me the same thing but if u read through old threads everyone was rushing and freaking out over trying to get everything done. It made no sense to wait to do everything. I know the certificates are only good for 2 years but the program is 1 & 1/2 years long so the certificates will be good for the length of program. Somethings that u need to wait to do is background check, finger printing and physical cause all that needs to be current. No sense in waiting to do everything we'll already be stressed out enough as it is.

You're right dolfanjenny and I was just thinking how everything will be rushed and stressful soon with all our RN stuff plus current schedule, finals, etc. Thanks for the advice, I shall get my butt moving this week :)
