Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!

Hello MariposaLPN and fernandesnicole,

Thank you for your advice. I called (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF THOSE IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) today and spoke to her. She pretty much said exactly what you did fernandesnicole. They just got back from holidays and will not be looking at nursing admissions until mid Feb, so I just need to be patient. She said the status will change only when they have begun reviewing the applicants. Yes, I have applied for May 2015. I have completed all the prereqs, HESI, core, paid $20 and confirmed all this with Nicole so hopefully I have done my part. My GPA for my prereqs is about 3.8 because I got a B in English and I got a 89 on the HESI, so there is still hope. I am currently registered for MCB2010 and lab and looking forward to that starting tomorrow.

Thank you to both of you for all the advice...it really helps... I almost had a panic attack I swear! :)

fernandesnicole- You started May 2014? How is going? Do you like it so far and how tough is it really?

Thanks :)

No problem. Tbh, BC makes mistakes, drops students even though they paid, sent acceptance letters late, etc. Just ALWAYS keep in contact with BC to avoid the nonsense. :)

Usually it'll say "Denied, pending...etc". It's not the same for everyone. She'll have to find out what requirements weren't met and complete them. GPA of 2.5 as in cumulative?

It does not matter if it is a GPA of a 2.5 cumulative or a 2.5 science GPA, either way the minimum GPA to apply to nursing school is a 2.5. Broward college pretty much accepts anyone whose GPA is a 2.5 and higher and has met all the requirements. In the past Broward college was way more competitive and now they accept way more people then before. My friend started the new semester today at north campus and she said there was roughly around 200 people in her class alone, so you do the math (thats around 600 people at all the campuses).

So, just curious for those of you already in the program. How much time do you put in each day to study outside of the classroom/clinical?

I mean it seems like you get the Friday and the weekend and I guess weeknights- is that about right? I was told that clinicals start the first week and they are two days at first, then one day after week 2 (or something like that...I can't remember).

Also, how are some of you planning work around this schedule?

Thanks in advance.

You're correct. It's 2 days the first week, then once a week after that. I study about 2-3 hours a night, 5 times a week while working 10 hour night shifts. There may be one class where clinical will be on a weekend. :)

Turned in my application today!!!!!!!!! Excited!! Now the anxiety and wait begins! I need something to do and keep myself busy from signing in every chance I get lol. I start micro tomorrow as well and lab so hopefully I do great and don't have to stop in the program

It is very doable but you have to dedicate your whole life and then some to this program. Sometimes you are going to feel like you want to give up when you don't pass return demo or you are falling behind in lecture but you just have to push through it because everyone in that program is in your shoes and they all know what you are going through. I told my friend last night who started nursing school that the girls and guys you are in school with will become your new best friends. You have to study for hours upon hours every night and when family issues, boyfriend/girlfriend issues, friend issues get in the way it is going to make it that much harder. You guys can all do it you just have to believe in yourselves, and if you have to retrack at a point, just pick yourselves up and do better the next time.

Looks like my thoughts of working just weekends isnt gonna work lol

Hey Everyone!

So all of us that have applied this first week of Jan MOST LIKELY WONT hear anything until Feb?? UGH THE WAIT. :nailbiting:

Also have a question too! If and When we get accepted we don't get physicals, drugs tests, and our shots till May when the program starts? No doing that ahead of time? lol

This site has been so helpful, glad I found you guys!

Anyone starting Chem this semester at North?

Is this because you will find it hard to find the time to study? I was thinking of just working weekends also if/when I get in. It's so hard to find the right schedule!

no, I am referring to clinicals being help on the weekends. Like, when can I work?! lol

ayyy

the struggle is real guys. HA! by the way...you're talking about applying first week of January, I applied back in early December....Ive got gray hairs coming in! :D :roflmao:

LondonFog, I think babysitting sounds very interesting at this point, just to get a few babysitting jobs here and there when needed. I already plan to take out loans even though I already have 10k in loans, I know I can and will be able to pay them off once I have a career as a nurse, it just feels ODD not working...I feel irresponsible. But then again, I would feel irresponsible to work knowing I probably shouldn't because of the way I like to study, and fail the program and ruin my chances of becoming a good nurse for sure.
