Broward College Nursing May 2015

Published

Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!

Sorry sheridan vocational school offers a class that Broward college accepts for hcp it is easier to get into because they offer it every 3 weeks. It is 300. It covers all your requirements for hcp, bls, and those other credit classes (hiv, dv, etc). It is online but meets 3 times

Hello everyone

I wanted to explain my situation a bit to see if I can get some advice and well encouragement because right now I am starting to feel a little depressed. I am a current student at FAU with a 2.6 cumulative gpa. I did not try my hardest and had a baby so life was a little hectic and pretty much have all c's in my pre req courses for nursing school. Trying to get into FAU's bsn program is out of the question. I was looking into broward nursing program but I am afraid my grades leave me a slim chance. Is there any hope for me? what are my options? should I retake all my courses? Also, for the hcp0001 class at bc I am trying to sign up but it says it cannot find the course....any thoughts??

Thanks!

Hello I'll see if this helps a bit: You're competing with students who have 3.0 GPAs and above. Luckily they mostly look at Anatomy and physiology 1&2 with lab, English 1 &2 (or equivalent), and chemistry. Eventually before graduation you'll need micro with lab and college algebra. If you had Cs in your prereqs it's not impossible but will be difficult to complete with those who have As and Bs in the same subject. You can retake your sciences if you wish and tbh it may help as well. The only reason why they scrutinize those classes is because in this program you have to know your anatomy AND physiology front to back. It's not impossible, but remember that there's going to be competition left and right. Take your hcp class and get it over with (it lasts 10 years). I don't like sugarcoating things this important but I hope this info gives you a heads up on what to expect once the application is turned in.

Good luck. :)

Hey guys so I put in my application and payed the fee but the guy at admissions office didn't take my certifications......he said I don't need that all he took was my CNA licence and hesi scores and made copies and that's it did any one turn in there certifications... and on the application I didn't see where we can pick our campus if we could do that or we don't have a choice.

They'll give you all the campus info at pre orientation. :)

OK thanks just wondering If I did it right..

Hi everyone,

Anyone know how long the application status will say 'Denied, Requirements not met'. I thought it would change, but it still hasn't. I have met all my prereqs and applied for May with Nicole. I tried calling Nicole today, but no luck getting though. I was hoping for my points to be awarded soon, but nothing. I just finished up my prereqs December and applied after the Hesi.

Anyone in the same boat?

Thanks in advance :)

You'll need to call tomorrow. Generally if it states "Denied" then you weren't accepted. It may have nothing to do with your prereqs, but maybe your gpa wasn't high enough, or something other than that. Call tomorrow for information, or better yet, go to the admissions dept for clarification. BC makes mistakes as well. Good luck. :)

That is not true…..just because it says "denied" does not mean your are not accepted. When I started back in May my application said the same thing for a while and then it changed to pre-admisson, and then to accepted. I would suggest just going to talk to Nicole and double check that all of your stuff is done. You are applying for May of 2015, right? If you are it will not change to pre-admission or accepted until closer to March. Also, to whoever said that they have a 2.6 G.P.A my suggestion to you would be to just apply because whats the worst that can happen? I know a girl that got in my semester with the minimum gap of a 2.5. It doesn't hurt to try. I would not suggest doing all those classes over until you find out if you got accepted or not.

true, mine said denied, pending something when they were evaluating my CNA license. It changed after 2 or 3 weeks I believe. Call to make sure. I just started my chemistry class, the express one with prof benjamin, she seems very laid back compared to what I am used to at FAU. I think I will enjoy it lol

Usually it'll say "Denied, pending...etc". It's not the same for everyone. She'll have to find out what requirements weren't met and complete them. GPA of 2.5 as in cumulative?

Hello MariposaLPN and fernandesnicole,

Thank you for your advice. I called (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF THOSE IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) today and spoke to her. She pretty much said exactly what you did fernandesnicole. They just got back from holidays and will not be looking at nursing admissions until mid Feb, so I just need to be patient. She said the status will change only when they have begun reviewing the applicants. Yes, I have applied for May 2015. I have completed all the prereqs, HESI, core, paid $20 and confirmed all this with Nicole so hopefully I have done my part. My GPA for my prereqs is about 3.8 because I got a B in English and I got a 89 on the HESI, so there is still hope. I am currently registered for MCB2010 and lab and looking forward to that starting tomorrow.

Thank you to both of you for all the advice...it really helps... I almost had a panic attack I swear! :)

fernandesnicole- You started May 2014? How is going? Do you like it so far and how tough is it really?

Thanks :)

Thank you, I just posted an update. I am registered for Micro this term with the lab- I took the Chem years ago (I'm an oldie) :) I also registered for this online Psychology class which will help for the BSN. I'm on a loan and financial aid, so need to keep an eye on the amount of credits I register for. Thanks :)
