Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!

Oh absolutely, I always go for A's. I just said that if I do get a C, I would be content lol

Just talked to Nichole.. they're waiting on the transcripts from one more school until I can be awarded any points. Frustrated that it's taking so long for them to get to BC! It's the school that has ENC 1011 on it so of course the grade doesn't show up on any of my other transcripts.

Dont panic. Have you turned in your application?

Yeah everything is already turned in. She said not to worry about it and because I have a higher level English class that has already transferred in, that's why I was okayed to put in my application. Everything is good! :)

Yeah xocrash don't panic. If u already turned in your application your ok. There's plenty of time just stay on top of them about the transcripts. When I went to miami dade I went through the same hassle. They held up my financial aid cause the tech school I went to took forever to send in my transcripts. I kept bugging the lady till she finally made sure it was taken care of. Luckily when I transferred to broward i didn't have to go through that cause dade sent everything over. But don't worry still plenty of time.

Hey guys I'm trying to apply for the program before Christmas break but one of my grades will process the 17th and that's the last day before break you think I can still apply if that one grade doesn't show up yet...

They won't be making any decisions until mid March from what I was told at the information session, and the previous threads from last year. You should be ok, as long as your have your application in, you can update your information, that's what we were told on the info session

OK that's good and you went to that information session how was it...?

And is there any tips you can give me about the hesi I no for math there is a lot of fractions precents and ratios and proportion but I'm not good with conversions..

I wasn't goof with conversions either. Even though I do not recommend this, this is what I did. I wanted to take the HESI before the finals week at FAU, so that left me little room to pick a date. I ended up signing up for a test 3 days after. Honestly, I spent 40$ on a book a barely opened, some Elsevier book I believe. Don't get me wrong, it helped out a lot, but I only glanced at the math portion and the anatomy. To me, reading is either you get it or not, and on the test..they were pretty straight forward with their answers. On the anatomy portion, it was either you knew it or not....but I as I have stated previously, the answer kinda "popped." It's pretty much about how much information you can recall from what you have learned. I took anatomy over this past summer, and I did well, scoring a 92% (when I thought I wasn't doing so well). Math....I can tell you right now most of the questions are ratios. It was kind of annoying but satisfying because it was a piece of cake.

Going into the not recommended advice (lol)....I memorized the conversion chart. Especially liters, ml, ounces. I read over it, I recited it almost overtime i could, I took a picture of my chart and I sat in the library while I waited for the test to start...I looked at the picture again and tried to picture it. I wrote it down as soon as they let me begin my test just in case I would forget. To be honest, I didn't use my chart as much, there were maybe 10 questions on conversions. So, even if I had done horribly on those conversions, I would've still passed. Let me say I have always been good at math, I am not bragging I am just saying that if this is not the case for you, you NEED to reinforce proportions and word problems. Math is just pure logic, the beauty of it is that if in doubt, most multiple choice answers can be plugged in to "check" answers. I tripled checked my answers just to be sure. I scored at 98% on the math portion.

When it comes to vocab, it was fairly easy. Again, just glance over the books. The test I was given only had 3 of the words in the book I bought. Again, either you know it or you don't. I know it sounds like a mean test, but everyone usually scores well on those areas. Most people fail math and anatomy.

The anatomy portion on the book only reviewed the systems. It was helpful..it probably was the only section I spent my time on, seriously. BUT, it was not as detailed as it is on the test (not to scare you). Obviously, they can't be too detailed because anatomy covers too much information.

I started on the reading, vocal and grammar first in that order only because it is hard for me to do conclusions, and I knew that leaving reading for last would agitate me, so I decided to get what was hardest for me out of the way. If math is your hardest, do it first. Don't worry about running out of time, I haven't come across anyone who has.

I did anatomy after and math last, then the personality and learning style tests.

Honestly, I think anxiety is what makes people fail these tests. I don't consider myself a good test taker, but I went there with an empty mind and bladder, a comfy jacket, well rested eyes, got there early enough to have a spare 20 minutes to look at my handy dandy chart, and take it.

Dont rush, honestly, the SAT was harder than this test.

and the information session was helpful but we kinda know what we need to know for now. All I can remember is them saying they are planning to MAYBE have clinicals on weekends because hospital space for students is very competitive. They're still thinking it through. Many LPNs were there. Most were asking about application deadlines, or by when they should send out their applications, and whether or not they should fill one out if they hadn't done the HESI yet, etc. To answer that, they said you could turn in your application and do updates to it. They highly suggested getting microbiology and chemistry (a pre req for micro at BC) BEFORE May for those wanting to get into the May program because you don't want to get caught in all the fuss of trying to survive all the classes and then micro. Or having the possibility of failing micro and having to be put on hold because they not allow you to proceed past alterations if you haven't passed micro. I cannot remember other info, but that's what stuck out the most for me.

Lots of LPNs? That scares me :-/
