Broward College Nursing May 2015

Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!

I took chm online and the lab at north campus. The teacher i had at north was wonderful. He was older. The lab was only once a week which was easy. .. But micro is twice a week for both classes. It wasn't a killer class but it took a lot of time to study. There is no way i would take that with my nursing classes now. You think it's just one class. ... But it's one class that takes all your time to study for. I can't begin to tell you how many dx are on my test each week that you need to know etiology, pathology, dx, tx, nursing interventions, prognosis for each... so much. Try and get it done asap. It will be worth it in the end. Rather than kill yourself. That's just my 2 cents. ;) I've never seen the speed classes. If you can do it, go for it. I guess it also depends on what else you have going on. If you don't work or have kids you may be fine just doing them at the same time as your nursing classes. I know some people in my classes are in math classes as well. And others registered for the mini sessions during our break.

Sometimes it takes people struggling to understand that we aren't lying about the course load. I told 3 students about it, they chose to ignore me, they took the class and dropped and failed their cores. They called me crying and I couldn't even help them. What for? Noone believed me, so why did they want my advice now? I learned the hard way. Took micro with lab while doing Peds with clinical. Passed micro with lab, passed Peds clinical, FAILED Peds lecture. Set me back SIX MONTHS.

Hello everyone I just saw this thread I am applying for may term 2015 I'm hoping it's not to late to apply...... I'm taking chm1032 online and anatomy 2 lab classes end the first week of December I failed the lab with a D last semester but I got a B in the lecture so getting the D in the lab pushed me back for applying to the program. ..... grades process December 17 and I'm studying for the hesi test hopefully I can put in my application the week before Christmas break.... is there a chance I can still get In for may it's not to late is it to apply....?

Hi welcome! Yes don't worry your not too late they don't start looking at applications till next year. In years past they let them know mid Feb but last year wasn't till the end of March but we should know sooner than that. Good luck with the HESI!

Have u taken micro yet? Or are u doing it next term? U should try and get it out of the way before the program starts in May

OK thank you I'm taking it winter term so I can get it out the way because I a nursing student I met told me they only give you a six week break during the program and you have to try and fit micro in that break so I rather do it and get it out the way. Did you already send in your application. .?

Has anyone taken the hesi test and if so can you use a calculator

Hi yes I already submitted my app so it's gonna be a looooonnngggg wait .....as for the HESI yes they let u use the calculator on the computer only! The math section is alot of conversions, fractions and ratio questions so make sure u concentrate on those and u should be fine

OK thanks so much I hope we all get in and I wish I could speed up time

Is the math portion like adding n subtracting n multiplying fractions

yes there are a few fraction for adding subtracting, multiplying and division but there's a lot of conversion and ratio questions make sure you study those its a lot of fill in the blank not multiple choice

Yeah, im glad I made the decision to take both this coming term...because I really don't want to worry about it later on. At the end of the day, all I need to get is a C on both. I have never gotten a C in my life, but I will be okay with these two if I do lol

You can't just conform to getting a C in prereqs. Remember that you're competing with others who may have pulled Bs or As. Try and shoot for a B though, because as we nursing students say: "There's no A-student in nursing school. Pull a C. "C" means "continue". All the best! :)
