Broward College Nursing May 2014

Published

Hey there! This is a tread for anyone trying to get into the May nursing program in Broward College. Have you guys completed everything we need?

I still have to take my HESI and I am half way done with the Health Core class. I am so nervous. I am still not completely sure on how BC does the admission criteria, but I have high hopes.

Leave anything below. Lets help each other out :)

Specializes in Critical Care.

Nursing Group May 2014 the first week of Process I is in the books. Patient Safety, Vital Signs, Infection Control and on the clinical end Bed Making (occupied/unoccupied), Bathing, Oral Care, Physical Assessment, heart sounds, lung sounds it doesn't end. Hope everyone is getting adjusted to the flow of this program. I'm enjoying everyone moment.

But the big test is next Friday, Exam 1.

I recommend everyone take the Beginning Nursing Test Taking Module. Its in the Skills lab on Central, I don't know about the other campuses. It breaks down many types of nursing questions and how to answer them, similar to SAT Prep course. Its important how you approach the question, break it down, and look for certain answers in different question types. That module goes into much more detail than the Fundamentals/Test Success books which are good tools as well.

Pray we all do well and are able to accept any outcome we receive and continue to move in a positive direction.

Central goes to broward health (almost all professor), memorial west (process and GI), plantation general (process 1 and 2 and sometimes Peds), cleveland (GIGU and cardio), university hospital (psych)

What hospitals do Central campus student RNs go to? When will the new health science building be finished? It is as bad at Central as some of us have been led to believe?

[Thank you....

Time management and studying. Find out what kind of studying works for you, make sure it is effective and you are retaining the information and able to apply it to whatever situation is thrown at you. We haven't had our first exam yet but it is a lot of information so once i post I'm going to make a study guide and then rewrite my lecture notes using the book to add any missing info or to elaborate for greater understanding. Be prepared and always have your material with you - both clinicals and theory.

So far north is great, love all my classmates and have made it a point to interact with the majority of them in some way-we are all going thru something challenging and new and I want friends not enemies, it's not a competition or race there is a place for all of us at the candle lighting ceremony :) I want to have as many study partners and definitely in the lab you want to move around and practice on everyone. The seniors have been cool -there was one in particular that stopped in the lab to help us with the heart valves and give some tips and tricks which I thought was great.

For the most part all of the professors are cool- they will laugh tell jokes and goof a little to make the long days go by with as much ease as possible but there is the point when they want us to be attentive/prepared and serious - that's expected it can't be all fun and games.

I have taken the advice of learning humility and leaving my ego at the door I am still working on calming these nerves though. So much I can share but a lot of this will be about experiencing it yourself and enjoying the ride. Last bit of advice is not to listen to the horror stories - make your own story and once you do what you are supposed to do all will be good.

Wish there were more hrs in a day!

Time management is key especially if u work like myself..

Just checking in... good morning

Thread died faster than I thought it would lol. Makes sense though, since we see each other like everyday. I'll still be around here and the August thread either way.

I was addicted to this thread and now that I deferred my seat to august, it's repeating the same process without the anticipation of getting in and quite boring now lol. Hope everyone is doing well.

we should create a facebook page :woot::snurse:

Hello Ya'll,

I put in my applicatin yesterday and my status show Denied-pending from dep approval with a total of points 14 out of 16.....does that means that I am denied for the program, have any one experienced anything similar :) just wondering....tks

I worked at Dr.365 a year ago as a medical assistant, but for some reason I though they close :)
